📵 🇺🇸 🇨🇳 Senate passes bill that could ban TikTok in the US

⬛️ Once Biden signs it into law, ByteDance will have 270 days to sell TikTok.

🔶️ The bill's passage in the Senate comes after months of lobbying against it by TikTok — the app prompted its users to reach out to their representatives and voice their displeasure, and its CEO personally traveled to Washington, DC, to try to stop it — as well as reportedly China itself. Politico reported earlier in April that officials from the Chinese Embassy met with congressional staffers to voice their displeasure with the legislation.

🔶️ Enacting the TikTok "ban" could hurt Biden's chances at reelection in November, given the app's popularity among younger demographics and the likelihood of a close final vote. Trump may have picked up on that, too — earlier in the year, he spoke against banning TikTok despite his actions while president.

The Great Replacement and the Great Lakes States (2/2)

On the Heartland and its declining influence:

In the 1940s Ohio was a 95% White state. Wisconsin's White population share stood at 99.2%, and Missouri's populace was 93.4% White.

By the 1970s the Great Migration and the state of mass migration from beyond the West had radically transformed these states and their major cities.

From Cleveland, to St. Lousi, to Milwaukee, Whites in the present day are a minority in the grand cities which they built on the North American continent.

Today Ohio is just 78% White, while Wisconsin stands at 78.6% White and Missouri boasts a 75.8% White populace.

The population will continue to change as state governments change policies to attract non-Whites.

Ohio has an entire department of government dedicated to attracting immigrants, and Wisconsin provides them with free housing and expansive healthcare.

Find out more about the transformation of the Midwest and sign up for White Papers so you don't miss the release of our pieces covering new regions of the US and West:

🇵🇸 🇮🇱 ⛺️ Israel gears up for Rafah civilian evacuation ahead of promised assault

🔶️ After weeks of talks with the United States about civilian safeguards, Israel's Defence Ministry has bought 40,000 tents, each with the capacity for 10 to 12 people, for Palestinians relocated from Rafah, Israeli government sources said.

🔶️ Video circulated online appeared to show rows of square white tents going up in Khan Younis, a city some 5 km (3 miles) from Rafah.

🔶️ The government sources said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's war cabinet planned to meet in the coming two weeks to authorise civilian evacuations - expected to take around a month - as the first stage of the Rafah sweep.

🇵🇸 🇮🇱 ⛺️ This appears to be confirmation that the new camp, located between Khan Younis and coastal Al-Mawasi, is indeed intended for Rafah evacuees. - Aric Toler

🔶️ An Israeli military official has said that if an invasion were to begin in the southern Gaza city Rafah, where a million displaced Palestinians are sheltering, an Israeli-designated “humanitarian zone” along the coast would be expanded to take in more civilians.

🔶️ The comments are among the first indications of the Israeli military’s plans for civilians in case of a major ground maneuver in Rafah, which the Biden administration has urged Israel to forgo because of the risks it would pose to displaced Palestinians.
