🇪🇬 ❌️ 🇮🇱 A policeman in Egypt killed 2 Israelis and 1 Egyptian at a tourist site in Alexandria

A statement from Egypt’s Interior Ministry said that another person was wounded in the attack at the Pompey’s Pillar site in Alexandria. It provided no further details.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry identified the wounded person as an Israeli who suffered moderate injuries. The ministry said in a statement that Israeli authorities were working with the Egyptian government to bring the Israelis home.

Extra News television channel, which has close ties to Egyptian security agencies, reported that the suspected assailant was detained. The dead Egyptian was a tour guide, according to media outlets.

🇩🇪 The AfD is on the rise in Germany

German political parties remain bewildered about the rise of the national populist AfD, which is currently running above 30 percent in Eastern Germany and making inroads in West Germany. Elections are being held on October 8th in Bavaria and Hessia, and the AfD is polling at about 15 percent in each, likely to become the second and third largest party in each state.

The AfD is making gains into traditionally left-wing voting blocs by insisting they are the only real opposition to the uni party in Germany, which favors mass immigration and open borders.

🇬🇷🇪🇺 The conservative Greek government wants to establish EU mandated migrant quotas

Greece’s Minister for Migration, Dimitris Kairidis, urges other European Union member states to adopt a proposed plan to sanction countries that refuse to accept migrants deported by the bloc. “Existing bilateral agreements for returning [illegal] migrants between individual E.U. member states and non-member countries had proved ineffective,” Kairidis said on state television.

🇪🇺 On October 4th 2023, the conservative government of Italy, led by Giorgia Meloni and the leftist coalition ruling Germany led by Olaf Scholz, reached a deal regarding the EU Migration Pact.

In short, the pact imposes a solidarity clause for all of the EU's member states where all member states must contribute in some form to alleviate the pressure placed by migrants on one or more of the member states.

These contributions can take the form of:

🔸 Relocating migrants in other member states

🔸 Taking over the examination process of a certain number of asylum claims filed by migrants

🔸 Financial contributions

The draft of the pact explicitly forbids any violent actions in dealing with surges of arrivals and while it gives a great deal of attention to the possibility of intentional destabilisation through the creation of an artificial flux of migration by a foreign party, the draft excludes "humanitarian aid operations" from being considered "instrumentalisation of migrants" with the aim to destabilise the Union or a particular state.
