🏭 🇺🇸 Location quotient of Machinists:

Ratio of the area concentration of occupational employment to the national average concentration. >1 indicates the occupation has a higher share of employment than average, and <1 indicates the occupation is less prevalent than average.

Employment of Machinists by State:

Estimates for detailed occupations do not sum to the totals because the totals include occupations not shown separately. Estimates do not include self-employed workers.

🇦🇷🏴🇨🇳📰 Geopol PT: "I do not do commercial transactions with Communists!", says Millei

— The Anarcho-Capitalist Argentine Presidential candidate Javier Milei says that if elected, Argentina will not trade with its second largest partner, People's Republic of China (after Brazil), and would trade only with the Civilized West (United States, European Union and Israel)

Noteworthy that:
- The previous Center-Right (Macri) and ongoing Center-Left (Alberto Fernandez) administrations signed agreements for a space observation base for the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) in Patagonia, the southern territory of Argentina where Mapuche guerrillas often make attacks
- Since 2017, more and more incidents of Chinese fishing boats poaching off the coast of Argentina have become a problem, with giant convoys of Chinese commercial boats catching tons of fish indiscriminately without authorization from the Argentine Government

- ANALYSIS: Why is the visit of Quds Force Commander Ismael Qaani important?

In the past month or two, the Quds Force General has visited several important countries related to the Iran-axis, including Lebanon, Syria and now Iraq.

Not only does this come amidst an increase in Israel - Hezbollah tensions, but also during a time in which, according to credible reports, the United States has pressured the Iraqi government to disband the pro-Iran Popular Mobilization Forces; the coalition of militias that was created at the order of Ayatollah Sistani in 2014 after the fall of Mosul, in order to bring a destructive blow to ISIS in the Levant.

This coalition of pro-Iran groups, which almost singlehandedly defeated the so-called Islamic State, is still the number one political player in the Iraqi political scene, despite being internally divided.

Many of the PMU's militias are increasingly supportive of Muqtada Sadr, a nationalist Shiite religious cleric and former ally of Iran. These Sadrists, who decisively won the Iraqi election of 2021, have now been pushing for a strong independent Iraqi state, free of both American and Iranian influence.

However, these Sadrists, who are heavily critical of Iran, are now even willing to cooperate with the American occupation to expel Iranian influence in Iraq. This has led to other Shiite militias straight up viewing the Sadrists as American stooges and power-hungry traitors.

On the other hand, there are still many pro-Iran factions, such as Asa'ib Ahl-al-Haqq, led by the Shiite cleric Qais al-Khazali. His faction, amongst many others, are fervent opponents of Muqtada Sadr. This contrast in ideology between nationalists and pro-Iran loyalists has led to severe tensions.

Perhaps, General Qaani is in Baghdad to mediate between these Shiite militias, who used to be 90% pro-Iran, but are now becoming increasingly independent and reckless.

At the same time, we hear reports of the United States sending more and more troops to bases in Iraq and Syria, coupled with threats of closing the Al-Bukamal border crossing on the Iraqi side to stop the flow of Iranian arms to Syria and Lebanon.

Regardless of what the reason is, Ismael Qaani's predecessor, Qasem Soleimani, always functioned as a uniting force and mediator between the several pro-Iran factions and those more critical of Iran.

Visits by IRGC leaders in the past have always been at important and critical moments, and this time is probably no different.

Let's see if General Qaani can do the same job as his predecessor, and somehow unite the Iraqi political scene, while at the same time preventing the American schemes from coming to fruition.

"I have been reading about the problems of youth.

You know, with all the criticism that was levelled at von Schirach and his Hitler Jugend, it is forgotten that he did a fantastic thing with Germany's young.

He kept them busy, he kept them out of trouble. In those years we did not have to concern ourselves with the worry of youths taking drugs, getting involved in crime, and sexual permissiveness.

We did not have burning of national flags and draft cards. We had a healthy youth with healthy minds, all pulling together to build a nation.

That is what we need today. We need to get them back on the right track."

🇩🇪🪖📃📰 Deutsche Welle: German intelligence service targets former boss — report
— "A former president of Germany's Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV), Hans-Georg Maassen, is under investigation by his former agency, the German newspaper Bild reported on Wednesday.

Maassen, who was removed from his post after appearing to downplay far-right violence against migrants, is a member of former Chancellor Angela Merkel's center-right Christian Democrats (CDU).

Maassen was forced from his post as the president of Germany's domestic intelligence service in 2018 after he appeared to dismiss the seriousness of apparent right-wing violence in the eastern city of Chemnitz."

🇺🇸🇩🇪🇮🇱 Israel says Arrow-3 missile-killer sale to Germany approved by U.S.

The United States approved a $3.5 billion sale of Israel's Arrow-3 missile defence system to Germany on Thursday, clearing the way for delivery in 2025 and full operational deployment by 2030, Israeli officials said.

The U.S. is a partner in the Arrow project, which was developed jointly by the Israel Missile Defence Organisation and the United States Missile Defense Agency.

The Germany deal, which would be Israel's biggest ever defence sale, follows a European arms build-up in response to Russia's war in Ukraine.

🇬🇧 🇹🇷 Rybar has published a post detailing how Turkey's imperial adventures in other countries have backfired. Only suiting the interests of Britain against Russia.

On that topic, I will say that Turkey as a power is really more a trickster than anything. Turkey walks a careful tightrope between east & west, serving only themselves. A bit cunning really. But very untrustworthy if you're a country making deals with them. So much that Western discourse accuses them of siding with Russia.

Turkey's imperial interests suit the times we live in as a natural flow of history. This century may see every border in the globe shift as many 20th century boundaries are becoming suggestions or lines on a map, as reality on the ground takes shape.

Sure, Turkey can't expect success by doing this, but what's important is they take that risk anyways in the event that it does pay off. The same goes for all powers today, realizing that the global world police are gone and will have to make due themselves.

🏛 Late Antiquity - Europe from its Origins

The western provinces of the Roman Empire broke away from the direct authority of Constantinople, but the new Germanic elites who ruled the Latin provinces were either assimilated or half-assimilated Romans already. The Mediterranean remained one, single economic and cultural space, where Constantinople continued to set the tone. This was to change because of two successive shocks in the east. First, the Persian Sassanids invaded the eastern Empire and took most of it. With a massive effort, Emperor Heraclius defeated them. The Roman triumph was short lived. A previously little known people invaded both Mesopotamia and the eastern Mediterranean, sweeping all before them … the Arabs.

🏛 An Exhausting Resurgence | Europe from its Origins

The Roman Empire did not "fall" in 476 AD. In its heartlands of the eastern Mediterranean it consolidated and strengthened. The reign of Emperor Justinian was spectacular. He reconquered north Africa, Sicily and Italy. But the cost was enormous, and the struggle broke urban life in Italy. On top of this came a mass-mortality plague. In reaction the far western kingdoms asserted their independence – Iberia and Francia solidified as kingdoms. The next influx from the north came in the form of the Lombards. Slavic tribes migrated down as far as Greece.

🇮🇱 🇺🇸 General Mark Milley, the chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will travel to Israel next week amid growing concerns inside the Biden administration about how the Netanyahu government's judicial overhaul is affecting the Israeli military.

ℹ️Why it matters: Thousands of Israeli reservists have suspended their service over their opposition to the right-wing government's weakening of the country's Supreme Court. The reservists have made it clear that they will resume volunteer service only if Netanyahu announces he is suspending the judicial overhaul indefinitely.
Milley's visit will enable the Biden administration to assess first-hand how deep the crisis inside the IDF goes, and whether it could have any implications for U.S. forces in the Middle East.

➡️The Pentagon is concerned that the crisis facing the Israeli military could have negative implications for Israel's deterrence strategy and may encourage Iran or Hezbollah to conduct military provocations that could escalate the situation in the region.

🇮🇱 - Tensions between secular Israelis and Haredim continue, with a group of secularist women entering a bus and singing a song entitled "Let's Kiss" (ultra-orthodox Jews believe listening to women singing is sinful).

Religious Jewish commentators called the women "anti-Semites", saying that their behavior was why the Second Temple was destroyed in 70 AD.

💐 "Gen Z is so young & they have already been burned out. They are good kids who need our help. They’re committing suicide at record rates, have the highest rates of emergency room admissions for self harm+the highest levels of clinical-level depression. We lose them we lose the future:

A society that does not watch out for and protect its children is a society that has lost its right to continue.

They have had more thrown at them than we adults care to admit. It’s easy to call them soft, fragile etc but they are exposed to a lot of very dark very evil stuff daily."
