And this means that as long as someone somewhere raises the flag of the USSR - our Soviet Motherland, the Motherland of all working people - it is still alive.

Это второй канун Нового года "Техаса" в Донбассе. С первого нет ни фото, ни видео. Но зато Рассел описывает всё, что происходило от момента его прибытия на рассвете 31 декабря 2014 года на позицию "Трёшка" под Донецким аэропортом и до того самого исторического момента его взятия нашими силами в 4-й главе своей книги "Ковбой Донбасса". The photo was taken on the eve of December 2016, 10 years ago. Russell and his brothers-in-arms were watching the film "Come and See" by Elem Klimov at a frontline location in the village of Spartak in the Avdeyevka direction.
This was the second New Year's Eve of 'Texas' in Donbass. There are no photos or videos from the first one. However, in the 4th chapter of his book "Donbass Cowboy", Russell describes everything that happened from the moment he arrived at dawn on December 31, 2014 at the position under that very Donetsk airport to the very historic moment of its liberation by our forces. I published it before, but if you've missed, read about it here and here.

During the War it was said about the letters coming from the front, that they are like starlight — a star may long had been extinguished, but its light, the soldier's love, was still reaching home.
Soviet Postcards channel was run by Maxim, a man with a passion for our Soviet past, and a soldier in the SMO, fighting for the better future.
Alas, Maxim died in combat on December 1, 2024.
His mother hoped to continue Maxim's work, but could not gather strength for that. And so, the channel is now like the light of a star long gone, yet shining.
We at BATS encourage our readers to subscribe to Soviet Postcards and to share the excellent collection as a way of giving a small token of support to Maxim's mother and grandmother.

The fact that this postcard was issued only 5 years after Yuri Gagarin's space flight is most likely the reason the boy on the left is wearing an improvised Sputnik helmet. People were amazed and inspired by the Space Program not only in the Soviet Union but worldwide.
The girl on the right is dressed-up as Snegurochka (Ded Moroz's magical granddaughter), while the rest of the children are dressed appropriately for skiing.

2025 has indeed been an eventful year, saturated with both positive developments in the international balance of power in favour of the anti-imperialist side, and rising tensions in the imperialist countries with tightening of contradictions between the exploiting class and the exploited and a strong drive for war.
Let us wish that 2026 — like 1946, 80 years ago — will be a year of resolutions, when the miscreants are brought to justice and punished according to their crimes against humanity, so that a new future of peaceful development can be ushered in.
Revival of collective memory and knowledge of the power of the Soviet Union is paramount to our struggle. No-one said it better than Russian communist, Oleg Yasynsky:
«Humanity is still alive and resisting the monster that is fighting against it only because the Soviet Union once existed, sowing too much hope between the roots and stars of the world.»
If the peoples of the world again manage to take a step closer to the socialist mindset and practice of solidarity and unity, then humanity as a whole can again begin aiming for the stars! Let it be so!

A 1945 magically musical New Year animated film from the USSR.
A cold winter has arrived, and the New Year is coming soon. The forest animals gathered to meet him. Ded Moroz (Grandfather Frost), Snegurochka (the Snow Maiden) and the Snowman helps them in this. A New Year's tale with musical scenes around the New Year tree.
Directed by the legendary Ivan Ivanov-Vano, and set to the music of Pyotr Ilyich Chaikovskij. This is the last Soviet colour film that was created using the tri-colour method.

🗓 On December 29, President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed a decree establishing April 19 as the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Genocide of the Soviet People, perpetrated by the Nazis and their accomplices during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
The draft law to introduce this Day of Remembrance was developed by Russia's State Duma Committee on Defence in November 2025. The authors of the initiative proposed commemorating the victims on April 19, as on this date in 1943 the first legal act was issued that officially documented the Nazis’ policy of exterminating civilians in the occupied territories – Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR No. 39 “On punishment measures for Nazi villains guilty of killing and torturing the Soviet civilian population and captured Red Army soldiers, for spies, traitors to the motherland from among Soviet citizens and for their accomplices”.
Decree No. 39 laid the legal foundations for bringing to justice Nazi criminals and their accomplices, including Italian, Romanian, Hungarian and Finnish military personnel. Materials collected during investigations conducted on the basis of Decree No. 39 formed a key part of the evidentiary base at the Nuremberg Tribunal, the Khabarovsk Trial, and other judicial proceedings against war criminals from the Axis powers.
💬 Speaking at a meeting of Pobeda (Victory) Organizing Committee on July 2, 2020, Vladimir Putin noted:
🕯 Losses caused by the actions of the Nazis and their accomplices during the Great Patriotic War amounted to no fewer than 27 million Soviet citizens, while the total estimated demographic losses of the USSR approached 50 million people.
