The PKK/SDF prisoners are not different than the Assad regime prisoners.
Thousands of Syrians are waiting for any news about their relatives in PKK/SDF prisons.
The PKK/SDF organization used to abduct Syrian civilians and throw them into prisons built by Assad, then present them as ISIS in order to secure Western and American support, so that the US and European states would provide political cover for that support. Not all the prisoners were terrorist Isis !

One of the reasons local residents resent the SDF/PKK organization is repression and the near-total absence of public services.
The organization turned Al-Kashkiya Hospital, in Deir Ezzor Province, into a military base and kept only the hospital pharmacy functioning.

Statement issued by the Syrian government regarding attempts to politically exploit the terrorism file:
The Syrian government has followed the statement issued by the so-called “Autonomous Administration” on 17 January 2026, which contained a series of falsehoods and accusations aimed at misleading international public opinion and deliberately mixing facts.
Accordingly, the Syrian government, in response to these claims, affirms its categorical rejection of any attempt to use the terrorism file as a tool of political or security blackmail against the international community, and clarifies the following:
The Syrian government firmly rejects attempts at security blackmail in the terrorism file, and stresses that the warnings contained in the “Autonomous Administration” statement regarding ISIS prisons are nothing more than political exploitation of the terrorism card and a practice of pressure and security blackmail.
Insisting on linking law-enforcement actions and the restoration of state legitimacy to the risk of activating terrorist cells constitutes an exposed attempt to invert facts and inflame conflict in order to maintain an authority imposed by force of arms.
The Syrian government, through its military and security institutions, affirms its full readiness to carry out its duties in combating terrorism, within the framework of international efforts aimed at eliminating ISIS and other terrorist organisations.
The Syrian state also pledges to secure all detention centres in accordance with approved international standards, and to ensure that no detained ISIS elements escape or return to the field again, stemming from its responsibility toward its national security, regional security, and international peace and security.
In this context, the Syrian government warns the SDF leadership against taking any reckless steps that would facilitate the escape of ISIS detainees or open prisons to them as an act of retaliation or as a political pressure card.
Any security breach in these prisons will be the direct responsibility of the party currently controlling them, and the Syrian state will deal with any such act as a war crime and direct complicity with terrorism that threatens the security of Syria and the entire region.
The Syrian government also affirms that its military operations aim exclusively at restoring security and stability, protecting civilians, and preventing the return of terrorism in all its forms, while renewing its full commitment to the rules of international humanitarian law, the protection of vital facilities, and guaranteeing the rights of all Syrians without any discrimination.
The Syrian government stresses that the restoration of the state, with its legitimate institutions, and the enforcement of the rule of law over all Syrian territory is the only and final guarantee for definitively ending the ISIS file, closing the displacement and forced migration file, and rebuilding civil peace on the foundations of justice, full national sovereignty, and equal citizenship for all Syrians.

All Western client regimes in the Arab entities label anyone who opposes them as “ISIS,” “Islamist extremist,” or “terrorist.”
Many citizens in these Western colonies have been imprisoned simply for speaking about corruption, posting a comment in support of the Palestinian resistance, or filing a complaint against an official or officer over an injustice, only to be jailed instead of the real perpetrator.
There are many documented cases, to the point that one detainee in Egypt who was imprisoned as an “ISIS Islamist extremist” later turned out to be a Christian.!!
The real catastrophe is that some of those who are denied justice, thrown unjustly into these prisons, tortured, end up being brainwashed by actual ISIS terrorists inside the prisons cells and then recruited by them.
Oppression and the absence of justice generate terrorism, and some regimes manufacture terrorism themselves to use it as a political pretext.
In Afghanistan, ISIS was fighting the Taliban, and the Taliban were fighting the American occupation!
After liberation, ISIS was almost entirely wiped out by the Afghan army.
