It is noteworthy that after the testing of the new Russian medium-range missile system "Oreshnik" in the so-called Ukraine, on the same day, November 21, the US Department of Defense reported on the adjustment of the nuclear deterrence strategy.

The new document takes into account the changing geopolitical situation in the world, as well as the growth, modernization and increased diversity of the nuclear arsenals of America's potential adversaries - China and Russia.

🔻In addition, according to the new strategy, the United States:

▪️plans to simultaneously deter several nuclear-armed adversaries in the future, and, if possible, use non-nuclear forces and means;

▪️recognize the importance and necessity of escalation management in planning responses to limited nuclear strikes or strategic non-nuclear attacks with serious consequences;

▪️intend to carry out closer coordination and careful joint planning with allies and partners to strengthen US commitments to nuclear deterrence.

Important points of the US comprehensive approach to updating the strategy are also the development of the B61-13 atomic gravity bomb, which is planned to be completed by spring 2026, as well as increasing the combat readiness of the Ohio-class submarines.

🔻In general, the document is indeed a reflection of the spirit of the times - in developing it, the United States took into account the factor of the possible lack of any arms control agreements with Russia and China in the near future.

He further proclaimed, "Israel firmly opposes violence of any kind against Palestinians, and will act against it through the IDF, law enforcement authorities, and public norms, not through undemocratic procedures."

Here’s the reality check: Katz conveniently omitted the glaring hypocrisy. Israel has released 8 or so Jewish settlers from administrative detention, a legal gray zone where no trial or sentencing exists but continues to imprison over 3,600 Palestinians under the same undemocratic framework. That’s thousands of people who have committed no proven crime, locked away without a shred of due process. Meanwhile, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has already ruled that Israel's two-tier legal system in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT) violates international law, specifically CERD Article 3, which prohibits racial segregation and apartheid.

Katz’s sermon on democracy is not just hypocritical but a masterclass in gaslighting. Israel’s apartheid legal system is a dystopian reality where settlers live under Israeli civil law, while Palestinians endure military tribunals. This is racial segregation, plain and simple. Katz’s claim to "oppose violence of any kind" rings hollow as the IDF systematically enforces settler colonialism, demolishing Palestinian homes, uprooting families, and shielding violent settlers from accountability. Israel's “commitment to democratic principles” exists solely for its Jewish population, while Palestinians are reduced to legal ghosts in their own land. Katz’s rhetoric is not just a lie, it’s a desperate attempt to sanitize a system of oppression that the Global Majority increasingly recognizes as apartheid.

The clock is ticking, Minister Katz. The world is watching, and the crumbling façade of "democracy" cannot conceal the brutal machinery of apartheid forever.
