Hack-TON-berfest has begun!

As we’ve told you before, the TON ecosystem is joining Hacktoberfest, a festival for open-source projects, and teams from the ecosystem are going to host activities during the event called Hack-TON-berfest.

The festival will run until the end of October, with enthusiasts helping open-source TON-based projects to solve tasks and project leaders reaching out to the community and asking for help.

You can also participate in our festival as a maintainer or a contributor.

Over 20 maintainers have posted their repositories and await help from the community at this very moment.

A P2P exchange is now available in the @wallet bot.

Today, the @wallet bot team announced the launch of a new P2P market. Users can now directly buy and sell cryptocurrency to each other, with the service acting as a guarantor of the transaction.

The P2P market supports six different fiat currencies — United States dollar, euro, Russian ruble, Ukrainian hryvnia, Belarusian ruble, and Kazakhstani tenge — each with its own list of approved payment methods. In the current release, you can create an advertisement to sell Toncoin and purchase cryptocurrency by selecting an advertisement posted by another user.

This significant new feature has already been integrated into the interface of @wallet, whose team invites you to check it out and share your thoughts in the comments section of the Wallet News channel.

​Sports betting company BilBet has integrated the Toncoin cryptocurrency.

BilBet, a popular sports bookmaker in India and Uzbekistan, has added the options to make Toncoin deposits and withdrawals.

The platform supports all major local payment systems — in India, PhonePe, UPI, Paytm, and IMPS, and in Uzbekistan, Uzcard, and Humo.

BilBet is well-known in India and has been actively promoting its services on mass media channels. Some famous Indian bloggers and actors have become its ambassadors.

Any cryptocurrency that strives for mass adoption must integrate into superior products. Toncoin’s inclusion on BilBet is another step toward international recognition with exposure to gigantic markets, such as India and Uzbekistan.

Introducing the first search engine on TON

It has been several days, and the first projects developed on the recently-launched TON Sites have started appearing. The first search engine available at searching.ton popped up today and drew the attention of TON enthusiasts. The site, similar in appearance to well-known Google or DuckDuckGo, parsers all the web3 sites on The Open Network. Currently, it is toncenter.ton, just-for-test.ton, and foundation.ton. The developers kindly ask the first testers to send feedback to this user. You can follow upcoming updates and find more details on their channel.

We remind you that it is necessary to configure a proxy server to in1.ton.org:8080 before you visit .ton sites. TON Foundation posted detailed information on how to set up a proxy server on GitHub. Please, visit this page if you experience some problems.

​TON browser extensions

The TON ecosystem continues to expand, with a handful of wallets already releasing their browser extensions.

These extensions play a vital role in the ecosystem, allowing users to interact with major TON components and services — e.g., DEXs and NFT marketplaces — manage their cryptocurrencies based on TON, and even view decentralized sites in their browsers.

These browser extensions make working with the blockchain simple and convenient, allow users to sign in to services with a single click, and facilitate payments in a split second.

Today, we want to tell you about three of the most well-known TON extensions.

MyTonWallet

A noncustodial crypto wallet with open-source code, it allows its users to view TON sites directly within your browser without altering any of your settings.

The team behind MyTonWallet was the first to implement support for the TON Proxy component. When you turn on the “TON Proxy” function in your extension settings, you’ll have immediate access to any Web3 site on TON.

The wallet has a sleek and modern user interface and supports all TON standards: tokens (Jettons), NFT, TON DNS, TON Proxy, and TON Magic.

Uniton

Uniton is a noncustodial cryptocurrency Web3 wallet from the Tegro team.

Uniton supports custom tokens (Jettons) on TON, allows crypto transfers via TON DNS names, and has multi-accounts, the ability to switch among multiple wallets in a streamlined interface (This function is currently only available in the web version).

The developers plan on adding a function that will display NFTs.

TON Wallet is the go-to wallet developed by the TON Foundation.

This wallet’s extension is user-friendly, lets users sign in to any TON site or service, and gives users full control over their Toncoin — storing, receiving, and sending.

The extension supports TON Magic and plans to add support for TON Proxy in the near future.

​A new TON NFT standard has been finalized.

We’re happy to announce that after a lot of hard work and endless testing, the TON Foundation has approved the standard for a Soulbound TON NFT.

A Soulbound token is a particular kind of token. It cannot be transferred or sold because it is meant to remain in its owner’s wallet forever.

This token standard will help to create new use cases for NFT technology.

For instance, a Soulbound token can be used as a way to keep track of a wallet’s accomplishments, hold essential documents (driver’s license, diplomas, etc.), and create a digital passport that will allow users to pass KYC verifications more quickly, sell subscriptions, and issue custom discount coupons.

Additional features include returning and burning tokens.

We can’t wait to see how the Soulbound NFT will be used out of the gate and the genesis of new use cases.

The team behind the Getgems NFT marketplace initiated the standard, issuing a grant in a partnership with TON Punks.

Getgems has already integrated the Soulbound token on its platform.

TON Glossary

The first-ever IDO in the TON ecosystem

On Oct. 10, the TON network reached an important milestone: its first-ever IDO. The Fanzee project raised $100,000 from investors in as little as four hours.

The Tonstarter launchpad, where the IDO was held, received over 7,800 Waitlist applications; however, only 438 people were lucky enough to receive an allocation.

We’re humbled to see how thousands of people continue to show interest in independent products based on TON, believe in their future success, and are ready to invest money in early-stage startups.

Without a doubt, fundraising on TON will play a vital role in the network’s development, paving the way for more projects with solid teams joining the ecosystem.

​Pokras Lampas, Ellen Sheidlin, and Brickspacer will be displaying their works at the TON NFT Exhibition in Dubai from Oct. 14 to 15.

Starting tomorrow at the immersive art center Art In Space in Dubai, the TON NFT Exhibition, organized by TON Diamonds, kicks off.

The works of Pokras Lampas, Ellen Sheidlin, and Brickspacer will grace the event, which will also see participation from StickerFace and G-Bots.

Pokras Lampas (482,000 followers on Instagram) is a name even people outside the art world have heard. The artist is famous for large-scale projects and collaborations with household names, such as Binance, Lamborghini, Fendi, Dries Van Noten, Nike, Adidas, Nasdaq, Comme Des Garçons, Apple, and more.

His original works are in the hands of private collectors all around the world (the royal family of the United Arab Emirates collects his work), and his NFTs have set records on the Russian market.

Pokras Lampas will be personally presenting his art at TON NFT Exhibition.

The TON community is already well aware of who Ellen Sheidlin (4.3 million followers on Instagram) is. The artist released her “Annihilation” collection on TON, but in Dubai, she’ll show the world a single installation called “Memory of Soul.”

Sheidlin will also be at the exhibition.

Brickspacer (215,000 followers on Instagram) is a famous motion artist who, in 2021, made the list of “30 most promising Russians under 30” for Forbes’ “Art” category.

The artist has worked with artists Slava Marlow, Little Big, and Face, and he’s the founder of the large crypto art community NFTBastards and the 111hata creative collective.

Brickspacer will unveil his “OCTOPUS BOYZ: GENESIS” piece, which will be the first of a new NFT collection.

We’re excited to see more big names from the world of art join the TON ecosystem.

The idea that The Open Network has the potential to become the central hub for talented people who create digital art is inspiring.

A new competition for developers — the TON Hack Challenge

We’ve said it many times, but developers hold a dear place in The Open Network’s philosophy. So, today, we’re once again happy to announce yet another competition for smart contract developers called the TON Hack Challenge, with a total prize pool of $25,000 in Toncoin.

The event starts at 13:00 (UTC) on Oct. 23 and will run for only one day, during which participants will hunt down vulnerabilities in smart contracts written in FunC, the native programming language for TON.

To participate in the competition, you have to register via @toncontests_bot.

We recommend preparing for the event in advance by going over the documentation section and creating a developer’s environment.

​Results from Hack-a-TONx Prague

From Sept. 30 to Oct. 2, the team at Tonana DeFi Hub hosted the offline hackathon Hack-aTONx Prague with the TON Foundation, offering $37,000 in prizes.

We were blown away by the results and want to share them with the community so that Web3 enthusiasts from all corners of the world will have a benchmark to compare when hosting events in the future.

The competition had 24 teams that worked with code for 72 hours and presented 12 projects. Over 100 people visited the venue, making the event’s first iteration a success.

The jury, event mentors, and lecturers comprised representatives from the TON ecosystem, including specialists from the TON Foundation, TON Society, Tonkeeper, Tonstarter, StickerFace, Orbs, and @wallet.

The event’s participants sat in on some lectures covering TON, Web3 gaming, and Telegram web bots and mingled at evening get-togethers.

The TON Foundation took care of the hackathon’s expenses, contributed to the expertise, provided recommendations, and would like to thank the Tonana team for putting on an elite-level event.

Pokras Lampas unveiled his TON NFT “CALLIGRAFUTURISM — 22: Knowledge,” which is currently up for auction.

An auction for Pokras Lampas’ first-ever NFT installation on TON, which was on display at the TON NFT Exhibition in Dubai, is currently underway.

This sets a unique precedent for the TON ecosystem, and we’re proud that famous artists choose the TON blockchain to bring their NFT ideas to life.

Organized by the TON Diamonds team, the TON NFT Exhibition ran from Oct. 14 to 15 and had some big names showing the world their art pieces, including Pokras Lampas, Ellen Sheidlin, and Brickspacer.

Creating personalized cryptocurrencies on the TON network

The TON Whales team has launched a token generator that allows users to create TON-based altcoins — aka Jettons — without requiring the assistance of programmers.

To launch your own tokens, you must:

1. Go to Create Your Own Crypto.
2. Sign in with the Tonhub crypto wallet.
3. Come up with a name for your token, a ticker symbol, decide on its total supply, and click “Create Jetton.”

Once you’ve completed the above steps, the tokens will appear in your crypto wallet.

These newly created tokens adhere to TON’s DeFi standard, meaning they can be used the same way as other tokens — e.g., trade on a DEX or send to other users.

Users can store Jettons in any TON-based crypto wallet that supports customed-made tokens — e.g., Tonhub, Tonkeeper, or Uniton.

Although this is a boon for the TON ecosystem, the token generator is only in its first version, which will eventually develop and update to offer more functionalities.

Currently, the service is only available to members of the Whales Club.

You can also create Jettons with the Jetton Deployer service.

​The TON knowledge library

At the beginning of autumn, The Open Network tag was added to Stack Overflow. Now, TON ecosystem users can participate in creating a massive knowledge library for developers.

However, due to some restrictions that slow down progress on the platform, TON ecosystem enthusiasts have launched a pilot version of a TON knowledge library, which is based on the same principles as Stack Overflow.

The knowledge library is a resource of questions and answers on coding for TON programmers.

The goal of the answers.ton.org service is to create a comprehensive and convenient database that will be constantly updated and cover the majority of questions surrounding programming on TON.

Now, developers have two information resources at their disposal in Stack Overflow and answers.ton.org.

We encourage everyone to add to the knowledge library — it will be an invaluable resource to TON developers.

TON Play, the alternative to Steam on TON blockchain, announced its soon launch.

Great news for gamers: today, TON Play published a promo video displaying the main features of their platform. For those not yet familiar with the service, it's a GameFi launchpad that aims to become "the Steam" on The Open Network. The video is already available on their YouTube channel.

As the platform develops, the first games will appear on it — e.g., Escape from Zeya or Fantasy Invest, which have announced it earlier. We believe the launchpad will help to attract new users to the TON ecosystem building the gaming community around its web and Telegram-integrated games.

TON Play has not yet publicly announced its launch date, but we managed to find out that the platform is set to launch on November 8. Looking forward to embarking on this web3 gaming journey.
