What is an IDO?

As you remember, the first IDO in the TON ecosystem is coming up very soon. In this regard, let us remind you what IDO is and what its stages are.

IDO (initial dex offering)—is the opportunity to buy tokens of the project before its appearance on the decentralized exchanges at a fixed price.

1. IDO Announcement
Everything begins with an announcement: prospective investors get acquainted with the project and its team and decide whether it is worth investing in it. It is important at this stage to analyze the project: study the product, the team, and its investors; check what they write about it in the media.

2. Open registration for a token sale
If the project seems interesting, the investor can apply for participation in a token sale. At this stage, it is possible to get the right to redeem the tokens at a reduced price before they are listed on the exchange. Allocations are a limited number of tokens that can be redeemed by a single investor. Buying rights are usually distributed by lottery.

3. Token Sale Day
Investors who are given the opportunity to redeem an allocation can purchase project tokens at a fixed price on the Launchpad. This can be compared to the pre-sale mechanics of NFT collections, where a limited number of users can buy the token they are interested in. Joining the project at this stage is a profitable opportunity to invest in the project before it appears on DEX.

4. Listing the project on DEX for free trading
As soon as the token price goes on DEX, the price of the token goes into free float. At this point every Toncoin holder can buy or sell the project's tokens. Prospective project tokens are usually in high demand, which causes the market price to rise actively from the start of trading.

Be aware of the risks when investing in projects: investments can lead to a total loss of money. No project can promise you instant profits. Do not forget this.

​Former Binance executive joins the TON Foundation.

Bill Qian, former head of global fundraising, ventures, and M&A at Binance Labs, which belongs to the world’s biggest crypto exchange, Binance, has become a member of the TON Foundation.

He’ll continue his duties as chairman of Cypher Capital while overseeing the TON ecosystem’s development by recruiting Asian Web2 and Web3 developers.

Qian is a crypto industry veteran and has carved out an illustrious career thus far — he was head of fintech investment at JD.com; he led the investment fund at Trustbridge Partners; and he was the head of Binance Labs.

About his new role at the TON Foundation, Qian said:

“I am more than excited to join the TON Ecosystem. My team and I will bring top-tier Asian Web2 developers from major internet platforms to TON and strive to bring the five billion Web2 users to Web3.”

Crypto exchange Bit2me has opened a TON knowledge base.

Last week, one of the biggest crypto exchanges in Southern Europe, Bit2Me, launched a course covering The Open Network in Spanish.

The course offers videos and various resources that go over the different aspects of TON and its services, products, and future.

​The TON grant program

Product developers are one of the highest priorities for The Open Network’s development. Any project that meets specific criteria in the TON ecosystem stands to receive a financial grant from the TON Foundation’s official grant program.

For a team to be eligible to receive a grant, it must submit a form on TON’s site and ensure that its project satisfies three requirements:

▪️ The project must prove it can provide some kind of positive use to the TON community.
▪️ The project’s code must be open-source.
▪️ The project’s development plan must be broken into a few stages, each of which needs no more than $5,000 to complete.

Special attention will be given to projects that offer a unique user experience.

Please note that these grants are not for event organizers (there’s a dedicated TON sponsorship program for that), NFT collectors, and services based on The Open Network.

​TON is participating in Hacktoberfest.

We’re pleased to announce that the TON ecosystem will join Hacktoberfest, an annual festival for open-source projects.

In support of this year’s Hacktoberfest, we’re launching a series of activities under the codename “Hack-TON-berfest,” where enthusiasts will be able to make development contributions to open-source projects on TON or request help from the community for their own tasks.

How is it all set up?

The festival has two groups of participants: maintainers and contributors.

Maintainers grant access to the codebase of their products, having prepared their repositories according to specific rules, while contributors solve the tasks submitted by the maintainers by contributing to the development without compensation.

How to participate

If you want to participate as a maintainer representing the TON ecosystem and get acquainted with the open-source community, you must fill out this form and go through the participation rules.

However, if you want to be a contributor, you need to read this guide.

Every maintainer and contributor will receive a limited-edition NFT for participating in the Hack-TON-berfest.

Introducing TON Sites and TON Proxy.

We’re excited to announce the launch of crucial components for the Web3 internet — TON Sites and TON Proxy 1.0.

These are unique technologies that allow sites to be fully decentralized, secure, private, and available on the TON network.

Users who don’t even have special technical knowledge can view TON Sites directly in the browser on their devices the same way they would for websites.

TON Sites uses decentralized TON DNS for domain names.

The release of TON Sites and TON Proxy is a watershed moment in the TON Foundation’s quest to create the Web3 internet. Web3 services — in the original understanding — are secured by cryptography and never seek the help of centralized services.

We’re confident that TON Sites and TON Proxy will be the beginning of the real Web3 and replace the current semi-decentralized solutions.

TON Sites and TON Proxy: The gist.

Yesterday marked the release of the first versions of the long-awaited TON Sites and TON Proxy components, with the TON Foundation announcing plans for future updates.

Today, however, we want to highlight some key moments for the TON Foundation’s big article on the matter.

The first version

▪️ Yesterday, the worldwide TON community was finally graced with decentralized sites, which are impossible to block or censor (either their IP addresses or domains) because they use their own addresses and protocols on the TON network and domains from TON DNS.

▪️ All data traffic between users and TON Sites is encrypted and verified for authenticity.

▪️ Users can assign a domain name to a TON-based wallet and receive Toncoin via that domain or a subdomain.

▪️ With TON Sites, there’s no longer the need to create log-in passwords — logging in will occur via a TON wallet with just one click.

▪️ TON Sites can be viewed through regular web browsers. It only takes a few easy steps explained in this guide. You can test it out right now and open the first TON site: http://foundation.ton.

▪️ There’s also an easier way to access TON Sites: Download a browser extension wallet that supports TON Proxy — e.g., MyTonWallet — and turn on the “TON Proxy” function in the settings.

The second version

In the second version of TON Sites and TON Proxy, an anonymous network will be released, which will help mask the IP addresses of users and sites. This will provide a layer of security to sites from DoS attacks and users from hacks and advertising tracking.

The service will be free for all users.

The third version

The third version of TON Sites and TON Proxy will usher in a new era of decentralized finance. Using TON Proxy, microtransactions will be deducted from users’ accounts as a financial incentive for network nodes to continue to provide security services.

This strategy aims to increase the number of nodes on the network, subsequently helping it to scale and become more stable.

All technical jargon related to TON Sites and TON Proxy aside, we want to emphasize that interacting with decentralized sites is just as easy as surfing the regular internet. (In fact, it’ll be even easier thanks to the sign-in functions through TON wallets and the built-in Toncoin payment method.)

We’re confident that shortly, a whole host of TON sites will appear, and TON blockchain users will be able to experience how convenient and simple to use they are.

Hack-TON-berfest has begun!

As we’ve told you before, the TON ecosystem is joining Hacktoberfest, a festival for open-source projects, and teams from the ecosystem are going to host activities during the event called Hack-TON-berfest.

The festival will run until the end of October, with enthusiasts helping open-source TON-based projects to solve tasks and project leaders reaching out to the community and asking for help.

You can also participate in our festival as a maintainer or a contributor.

A P2P exchange is now available in the @wallet bot.

Today, the @wallet bot team announced the launch of a new P2P market. Users can now directly buy and sell cryptocurrency to each other, with the service acting as a guarantor of the transaction.

The P2P market supports six different fiat currencies — United States dollar, euro, Russian ruble, Ukrainian hryvnia, Belarusian ruble, and Kazakhstani tenge — each with its own list of approved payment methods. In the current release, you can create an advertisement to sell Toncoin and purchase cryptocurrency by selecting an advertisement posted by another user.

This significant new feature has already been integrated into the interface of @wallet, whose team invites you to check it out and share your thoughts in the comments section of the Wallet News channel.

BilBet, a popular sports bookmaker in India and Uzbekistan, has added the options to make Toncoin deposits and withdrawals.

The platform supports all major local payment systems — in India, PhonePe, UPI, Paytm, and IMPS, and in Uzbekistan, Uzcard, and Humo.

BilBet is well-known in India and has been actively promoting its services on mass media channels. Some famous Indian bloggers and actors have become its ambassadors.

It has been several days, and the first projects developed on the recently-launched TON Sites have started appearing. The first search engine available at searching.ton popped up today and drew the attention of TON enthusiasts. The site, similar in appearance to well-known Google or DuckDuckGo, parsers all the web3 sites on The Open Network. Currently, it is toncenter.ton, just-for-test.ton, and foundation.ton. The developers kindly ask the first testers to send feedback to this user. You can follow upcoming updates and find more details on their channel.

We remind you that it is necessary to configure a proxy server to in1.ton.org:8080 before you visit .ton sites. TON Foundation posted detailed information on how to set up a proxy server on GitHub. Please, visit this page if you experience some problems.

The TON ecosystem continues to expand, with a handful of wallets already releasing their browser extensions.

These extensions play a vital role in the ecosystem, allowing users to interact with major TON components and services — e.g., DEXs and NFT marketplaces — manage their cryptocurrencies based on TON, and even view decentralized sites in their browsers.

These browser extensions make working with the blockchain simple and convenient, allow users to sign in to services with a single click, and facilitate payments in a split second.

MyTonWallet

A noncustodial crypto wallet with open-source code, it allows its users to view TON sites directly within your browser without altering any of your settings.

The team behind MyTonWallet was the first to implement support for the TON Proxy component. When you turn on the “TON Proxy” function in your extension settings, you’ll have immediate access to any Web3 site on TON.
