Rebranding First Stage Labs: The Open Platform aims to pioneer Web3 SuperApp development through Wallet integration in Telegram

The First Stage Labs team, familiar to all TON enthusiasts, is rebranding to The Open Platform.

What changed:

▪️ The brand took a new name, The Open Platform (TOP), which more accurately aligns name and mission with The Open Network.

▪️ Wallet has joined The Open Platform. Thus, Wallet becomes the flagship product of TOP.

▪️ TOP has outlined its goal: to become a leading developer in creating the Telegram Web 3.0 ecosystem and put Web3 in everyone’s pocket.

Initially emerging as a simple Telegram bot, today Wallet is a convenient and multifunctional Telegram Web App for managing cryptocurrencies.

As you know, Wallet recently announced the launch of a non-custodial wallet, TON Space, available directly in the messenger. ​TON Foundation begins work with Telegram to make @Wallet available to 800 million users

Today marks a milestone in the journey towards mainstream adoption of Web3. TON Foundation has started working with Telegram, to integrate and promote a TON-based Web3 ecosystem in the global messenger.

Coinciding with this announcement, TON-based @Wallet, has launched its self-custodial version, TON Space, to all existing users. TON Space will give 800 million people the ability to own and manage their digital assets easily in Telegram.

Get excited about:
▪️ New projects: TON will be the only Web3 infrastructure integrated with and promoted in Telegram, all Web3 projects looking to access Telegram’s audience and built-in viral features should now build on TON.
▪️ New users: Today, for all its existing users @Wallet gets a new entry point in the Telegram menu. And this November, this feature will become the default for Telegram’s entire user base, outside of the United States.
▪️ Exclusive distribution: TON ecosystem projects and partners will get priority access to Telegram Ads. This gives a unique advantage to TON projects looking to distribute their message to over 37,000 crypto communities and 800 million people on Telegram.

TON Foundation aims to onboard 30% of Telegram’s active users to TON by 2028. That’s an estimated 500 million TON users. This is 33x the 15 million active Web3 users across the entire space today.

The change that needs to happen in Web3 is one that every successful technology company on the planet already understands. Focus on user needs above all else. By integrating with Telegram, TON Ecosystem will build on existing user experience rails, creating simple Web3 experiences. Moving the space toward real-world uses, with real-world value, for everyone.

The Open Challenge Program Sunset

As of Q2 FY23, The Open Challenge Program has been replaced with the DeFi Liquidity Incentive Program. The TON Foundation has analyzed the current state of the TON DeFi ecosystem and concluded that a custom liquidity incentive tailored at the protocol level will be more effective in growing the ecosystem.

As a result of running The Open Challenge for two consecutive quarters, Megaton achieved an average TVL of $11 million during Q2 FY23, making them eligible for a reward (which has since been deposited back into the pool).
