❗️UNRWA says 61 million tons of debris blanket Gaza after two years of Israeli war
The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) said on Thursday that more than 61 million tons of debris now cover Gaza after over two years of Israeli bombardment.
“Entire neighbourhoods have been erased, and families search the ruins for water, for shelter,” the agency wrote on X, adding that it continues its humanitarian operations despite the ongoing Israeli blockade and restrictions on aid delivery.
UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini said the agency has enough medicine, essential goods, and food supplies to sustain Gaza’s population for three months.

❗️UNFPA Deputy Executive Director Andrew Saberton:
– “The sheer extent of the devastation looked like the set of a dystopian film. Unfortunately, it is not fiction.”
– “This is not collateral damage and I cannot unsee what I have seen.”
– “Gaza has been flattened. Mile upon mile of rubble and dust with few buildings left intact.”
– “Premature and low birth weight babies now make up around 70% of newborns.”
– “One in three pregnancies is regarded as high risk.”
– “Multiple newborns are often crammed into one incubator due to a lack of fuel and equipment.”
– “Every single UNFPA staff member in Gaza has experienced the death or multiple deaths of family and relatives.”
– “Many women in Gaza have lost everything — their family members, their homes, their colleges, and their jobs.”
– “We desperately need to see a permanent ceasefire now.”

⭕️ US-Israeli plan to SPLIT GAZA IN TWO sparks Arab rejection and fears of lasting occupation
According to the Wall Street Journal, the US and Israel are considering a plan to divide the Gaza Strip into two zones, one controlled by Israel and the other by Hamas, with reconstruction restricted to the Israeli zone until Hamas is disarmed and removed from power.
US Vice President JD Vance and Trump adviser Jared Kushner outlined the proposal at a press conference in Israel, saying Israel currently controls about 53% of Gaza under the ceasefire. They described the Israeli-held area as a “safe zone” that would gradually expand, with all reconstruction funding directed there. Kushner said the aim was to build “a new Gaza” on the Israeli-controlled side to give Palestinians “a place to go, work, and live.”
Arab mediators have expressed alarm over the proposal, which was raised during recent talks. Arab states strongly oppose dividing Gaza, warning it could establish a permanent zone of Israeli control inside the enclave. They have also rejected the idea of deploying forces to secure Gaza under these terms. A US official described the plan as preliminary. The ceasefire map, brokered by Trump, already designates a yellow line marking Israeli control, meant to shrink over time as benchmarks are met.
The plan reflects unresolved difficulties in disarming Hamas and establishing an alternative governing authority to oversee billions in reconstruction funds. It aligns with Trump’s broader proposal to form a technocratic Palestinian committee and deploy an international security force, though details remain unsettled. White House officials said Kushner, working with envoy Steve Witkoff, is the driving force behind the initiative, which has Trump’s backing.
Israeli analysts see the proposal as a way to weaken Hamas politically and militarily over time, by expanding Israel’s zone of control and strengthening a buffer between Gaza and Israeli border towns. But Palestinian and international observers warn the plan could mirror West Bank tactics, fragment Gaza, and erase its territorial unity.
Tahani Mustafa of the European Council on Foreign Relations said: “Gaza has represented the only patch of territorial contiguity for a Palestinian state. A plan like this could end up creating what Palestinians feared.” She added that demanding Hamas’s disarmament without real peace guarantees “is the core of the problem” and would likely lead to deadlock.

❗️Deadly aid organization that killed thousands of Palestinians now eyes new role in Gaza
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which operated what were referred to as “death traps” in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of thousands of Palestinians in desperate search of aid and food amid famine conditions, has been in talks with senior US military officials and members of the Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC), a multinational body created during the Trump administration in southern Israel to oversee postwar stabilization efforts in Gaza.
Among those reportedly participating in CMCC meetings is Israeli-American businessman Michael Eisenberg, who helped launch the GHF earlier this year. Two sources said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is preparing to appoint Eisenberg as his personal representative to the CMCC, a claim neither Eisenberg nor Netanyahu’s office have commented on.
Proposals under consideration include GHF operating food distribution centers in areas still under Israeli military control, managing logistics hubs for Gaza’s reconstruction, or supplying aid to other organizations. Private military contractors linked to GHF are reportedly seeking to continue security operations in Gaza. “Our role may evolve, and is likely to evolve, based on what is needed on the ground,” GHF said in a statement.

⭕️ Egypt’s gas imports from Israel fall, LNG imports surge to record levels
Egypt’s imports of Israeli gas fell by 12.3% in August 2025, dropping by 96 million cubic meters to 687 million cubic meters (782 mcf/d), compared to 783 million cubic meters in July.
This marks the second-lowest monthly level this year after June, when imports fell sharply due to the 12-day war between Iran and Israel.
Cumulatively, Egypt’s gas imports declined to 6.16 bcm between January and August 2025, down from 6.7 bcm over the same period in 2024. Further declines are expected in October due to a planned 12-day shutdown of Israel’s Tamar field for maintenance.
In parallel, Egypt has ramped up LNG imports to record levels, reaching 2.511 bcm in August, a 26.5% monthly increase. Total LNG imports rose to 5.71 million tons between January and September 2025, compared to 1.42 million tons a year earlier.
August recorded an all-time high of 1.27 million tons of LNG imports, followed by 1.04 million tons in September. The surge comes as Egypt expanded its regasification capacity to 2.77 bcf/d after adding a fourth floating unit in Damietta.

❗️Trump says Putin meeting cancelled due to lack of diplomatic efforts
US President Donald Trump revealed on 22 October that due to being frustrated with stalled diplomatic efforts with Russian President Vladimir Putin that "go nowhere" he would be cancelling a scheduled summit between the two.
“We canceled the meeting with President Putin — it just didn’t feel right to me,” Trump told reporters at the White House. “It didn’t feel like we were going to get to the place we have to get. So I canceled it, but we’ll do it in the future.”
This cancellation coincides with new US sanctions on Russia meant to pressure Moscow over the war in Ukraine.

Footage has emerged of Israeli occupation forces attempting to build familiarity with children in Quneitra and its countryside in southern Syria, in a bid to penetrate communities and entrench their presence.
Since the fall of Bashar al-Assad's government in December 2024, Israel has steadily seized and occupied parts of the demilitarized buffer zone in the occupied Golan Heights, violating the 1974 Disengagement Agreement with Syria, as talks between the two sides continue over a security arrangement.
