"The Syrian state condemns the violations against our people in Suwayda and vows accountability

16 July, 2025 – The Syrian state has closely followed with great concern the deeply troubling violations that recently affected some areas in Suwayda province. These actions fall under criminal and illegal behavior that cannot be justified under any circumstances, and they completely contradict the principles on which the Syrian state is founded.

We in the Syrian government strongly condemn these heinous acts and affirm our full commitment to investigating all related incidents and holding accountable everyone proven to be involved. Any party responsible for these actionsm whether individuals or external organization, will face the force of the law. We will pursue accountability with full legal force and will not allow these violations to go unpunished.

The Syrian state, through its leadership and institutions, places utmost priority on ensuring the security and stability of all regions across Syria. We affirm that justice is the standard we adhere to in all cases. We assure our people in Suwayda that their rights are deeply safeguarded, and we will not allow any party to tamper with their safety or stability."

"Following a series of overnight strikes against Syrian regime forces, the Chief of the General Staff, Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, has instructed an additional reinforcement of intelligence and strike capabilities, as well as the redeployment of forces to the Northern Command, in order to increase the pace of attacks and halt assaults against the Druze in Syria.

The IDF is committed to its deep alliance with our Druze brothers and is accordingly striking targets across Syria to protect them in the al-Suwayda region, Jabal al-Druze, and wherever necessary.

The 210th Division sector will be reinforced with additional forces along the border area and in outposts within the security zone.

Unauthorized crossings of the fence into Syria pose a danger to the Druze and to our forces and must be stopped immediately."

❗️The Israel-aligned Suwayda Military Council (SMC) denies reports of any agreement reached with the Syrian government, claiming that these allegations are false and do not reflect its position.

The Suwayda Military Council clarified that the person mentioned in the reported agreement does not represent it, and confirmed that only Hikmat al-Hijri speaks on its behalf.

❗️Spiritual leader of the Druze Unitarian community in Syria, Hikmat al-Hijri:

– "We affirm that the fighting will continue until the full liberation of all the territory of Suwayda Province.

– "There is no agreement, negotiation, or mandate with the Syrian government."
