Комитет, управляющий разработкой набора компиляторов GCC (GCC Steering Committee), утвердил правила, регламентирующие применение AI-инструментов при разработке. Правила предписывают не принимать юридически значимые изменения в коде или тексте, сгенерированные при помощи AI или производные от контента, созданного через AI. Юридически значимыми признаются наработки, насчитывающие более 15 строк. Запрет объясняется неопределённостью в вопросах лицензий и авторских прав на результат, сгенерированный большими языковыми моделями.

Mosaic brings i3-style automatic tiling to GNOME Shell without asking you to choose it permanently. Turn it on when you want windows to arrange themselves, turn it off when you want floating windows back. ‍COSMIC Epoch 1.5

Компания System76 представила COSMIC Epoch 1.5 — очередное обновление написанного на Rust рабочего окружения для Linux. Выпуск состоялся 29 июля 2026 года, всего через неделю после COSMIC Epoch 1.4, и сосредоточен преимущественно на исправлении ошибок, повышении стабильности композитора и доработке недавно появившегося эффекта матового стекла.
В композиторе cosmic-comp добавлено обходное решение для исправления отображения приложений на базе Chromium, они некорректно отображались при дробном масштабе меньше 100%. Улучшено восстановление после сброса графического процессора: теперь COSMIC не должен аварийно завершаться, если после сброса GPU не удалось сразу создать новый модуль визуализации. Также исправлены взаимная блокировка D-Bus в средстве контроля специальных клавиш, переключение фокуса окон X11 и положение указателя у границ экрана. (полный список изменений)
