Ubuntu 25.10 will allow you to use hardware-backed full-disk encryption (FDE) integrated with a Trusted Platform Module (TPM), further bolstering the distro’s security story — albeit as an opt-in and entirely experimental feature. You can already use full disk-encryption on Ubuntu by setting it up during installation. This works using a passphrase (using LUKS) that you type in on each boot.
