Ubuntu has announced the codename for Ubuntu 26.10 is “Stonking Stingray”. As codenames go it’s certainly unique. The distro gives each release a codename that pairs an adjective with an animal, the latter of which becomes the release mascot. This tradition dates back to the first Ubuntu release in 2004 (dubbed ‘Warty Warthog’). What does the Ubuntu 26.10 codename mean? Stonking is a strange choice as it’s (to my knowledge) mainly used here in the UK as an informal term for something huge or exceptionally good. New Windows RDP phishing warning: Caution: Unknown remote connection

The April 2026 Patch Tuesday updates add anti-phishing protection to the Windows Remote Desktop client (mstsc.exe). The change — assigned CVE-2026-26151 — means that opening an .rdp file now triggers a security dialog that lists all requested resource-sharing settings, each disabled by default. Files without a verifiable publisher show a red "Caution: Unknown remote connection" banner. The update affects Windows 10 and Windows 11 versions 23H2 and later.
