Season of small chicks: coots and black headed gulls

Абсолютно уникальный опыт: на Самуре довелось понаблюдать за кольцеванием летучих мышей: нетопырей, рыжих вечерниц, подковоносов. Мне даже дали подержать нетопыря-пигмея, самую маленькую летучую мышь в Европе. Всех мышей учёные благополучно выпустили в природу. Хотели ночью попробовать снять вылет летучих мышей из дупла, но получился только выполз: очумевшая после кольцевания и измерения мышь вылетать не собиралась. На следующий день мыши улетели.

Absolutely unique experience: bat-watching at Samur, I saw scientists tracking common pipistrelles, red evening bats, and horseshoe bats. They even let me hold a pygmy pipistrelle, the smallest bat in Europe. All the bats were safely released back into the wild by the scientists. We tried to film the bats emerging from their roost at night, but instead, we got a crawl: the bat, dazed from banding and measuring, didn't want to fly out. The next day, the bats flew away.

Прогулки вдоль Каспийского моря в Дагестане прекрасны, встречаешь множество птиц: золотистые и зелёные щурки, удоды, орлан-белохвост, по дороге к морю вылетел фазан, на бархане средиземноморские черепахи, то тут то там встречаются маки и необычные орхидеи, много солнца и морской воздух, красота!
Walks along the Caspian Sea in Dagestan are wonderful. You can watch many various : common and green bee-eaters, hoopoes, white-tailed eagles. On the way to the sea, a pheasant flew out, and on the dunes, there were Mediterranean turtles. Here and there you see poppies and unusual orchids, lots of sunshine and sea air—it's beautiful!
