🛡 Why Some Tokens are Hidden in the STON.fi Interface
Stonfiers! Ever wondered why certain tokens don't appear in the STON.fi interface? It's because we've built in protection to help you swap safely.
Here's how it works: the interface can restrict tokens that create confusion or risk. According to our Terms of Use, we hide tokens that:
❌ Impersonate well-known assets (like fake "USDT" or "BTC" tokens)
⚠️ Violate intellectual property rights (using someone else's brand, name, or logo without permission — think "Google" or "Tesla")
🌀 Pretend to be affiliated with other legitimate projects when they're not
A note on meme tokens:
We recognize meme tokens as part of crypto culture. However, there's a fine line between creative memes and copyright infringement. When meme tokens directly copy branding — names, logos, characters, or other intellectual property of established companies, projects, or public figures — they cross into problematic territory.
We support creativity in the meme token space, but not at the expense of someone else's rights. Token creators should bring originality to their projects rather than simply copying existing brands.
Here's what matters:
If a token doesn't appear when you search by name, you can still find it by entering its contract address manually. We use two methods to protect you:
1️⃣ Blacklisting (usually for fraudulent tokens). These tokens cannot be swapped in our interface, even if you add them manually by contract address.
2️⃣ Hiding (usually for tokens resembling well-known assets). You can still find and swap these by entering their contract address manually. If you choose to do so, all responsibility is on you — DYOR before proceeding.
Either way, this restriction only affects what you see in our interface. These tokens still exist on the blockchain and can even be swapped through STON.fi's protocol via other interfaces or smart contracts directly.
Our goal isn't to control what exists — it's to prevent you from accidentally buying a token thinking it's something else. We want to keep your experience clear and straightforward.
STON.fi remains open and decentralized. The interface simply acts as your first line of defense against misleading assets.
