The Wall Street Journal, citing three U.S. sources, reported that as the United States prepares for a possible strike on Iran, the Pentagon has instructed its second carrier strike group to get ready for deployment to the Middle East.

On Tuesday, Trump said he is considering sending a second aircraft carrier to the region to prepare for military action if negotiations with Iran fail. One official said the deployment order could be issued within hours, although Trump has not yet given the formal directive and plans may still change.

Another official said the Pentagon is preparing an aircraft carrier to depart from the East Coast toward the Middle East within the next two weeks. The USS George H.W. Bush is completing training exercises off the coast of Virginia, and officials say those exercises may be accelerated.
