yesterday (monday) i was in Lyon. it has one of the cosiest bookshops i’ve ever seen, called Le Bal des Ardents. it looks and feels suspended in time

then i went to the local art museum

Lyon Museum of Fine Arts has some very nice artwork, and i enjoyed seeing it up close, but it’s got a very generic hanging. everything is split by country and time period, and every room looks the same. it does feel quite imposing with this empire-style grandiosity – creating more of a barrier between the viewer & the art. which is a shame, because the art’s so good.
