🇬🇧 The Moscow Premiere of Hunting the Hares

On December 9, at the Illuzion cinema in Moscow, the Sochi Dialogue forum, together with the Alexander Pechersky Foundation and the Digital History project, presented the documentary film Hunting the Hares.

🌟 The film is dedicated to one of the most dramatic episodes of World War II—the mass escape of Soviet prisoners of war from the Mauthausen concentration camp in February 1945. Through archival materials, expert commentary, and artistic reconstruction, the film preserves the memory of both heroism and tragedy, prompting reflection on the nature of courage and the value of human dignity.

The event opened with remarks by Andrey Fursenko, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation and Co-Chair of the Sochi Dialogue, who emphasized the importance of the project for an honest conversation about shared history:

«It is crucial that work with historical memory is not episodic. It must be systematic, consistent, and honest. This film is part of such systemic work by the Sochi Dialogue, aimed at ensuring that the difficult pages of our common history become not a barrier but a foundation for mutual understanding.»

Igor Nikitin then addressed the audience on behalf of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reading a message from Deputy Minister Dmitry Lyubinsky.

🌟 Maria Matveeva, Director of the Sochi Dialogue, read an address from Alexey Fursin, Head of the Moscow Department of Culture, who highlighted the film’s importance for cultural and historical education.

🌟 Before the screening, Ilya Vasiliev, Chairman of the Alexander Pechersky Foundation, spoke about the creation of the film’s soundtrack, which became the emotional core of the documentary.

🇦🇹 In Moskau fand die Premiere des Films «Hasenjagd» statt

Am 9. Dezember stellte das Forum «Sotschi-Dialog» in Zusammenarbeit mit der Alexander Pechersky Foundation und dem Projekt «Digitale Geschichte» im Moskauer Kino «Illusion» den Dokumentarfilm «Hasenjagd» vor.

🌟 Der Film ist einer der dramatischsten Episoden des Zweiten Weltkriegs gewidmet — der Massenflucht sowjetischer Kriegsgefangener aus dem Konzentrationslager Mauthausen im Februar 1945. Durch Archivmaterial, Zeugnisse von Historikern und eine künstlerische Rekonstruktion bewahrt der Film die Erinnerung an das Kunststück und die Tragödie und lässt über die Natur des Mutes und den Preis der Menschenwürde nachdenken.

Die Veranstaltung wurde mit der Begrüßung des russischen Präsidenten und des Co-Vorsitzenden des Forums «Sotschi-Dialog», Andrej Fursenko, eröffnet, in dessen Rahmen der Wert des Projekts für einen ehrlichen Dialog über die gemeinsame Geschichte unterstrichen wurde:

«Es ist wichtig, dass die Arbeit mit historischem Gedächtnis nicht punktuell ist. Es muss systemisch, konsistent und ehrlich sein. Dieser Film ist Teil einer solchen systemischen Arbeit des Sotschi-Dialogs, die darauf abzielt, dass die komplexen Seiten unserer gemeinsamen Geschichte keine Barriere, sondern eine Grundlage für gegenseitiges Verständnis werden.»

Igor Nikitin, der die Adresse des stellvertretenden Ministers Dmitrij Lubinskij verlesen hat, wurde von den Teilnehmenden im Namen des russischen Außenministeriums begrüßt.

🌟 Maria Matweewa, Direktorin des Sotschi-Dialogs, las die Ansprache des Leiters des Moskauer Kulturamtes, Alexej Fursin, vor, der die Bedeutung des Films für die kulturhistorische Aufklärung feststellte.

🇷🇺 Европейский дебют в сердце классической музыки

В Вене состоялся европейский дебют проекта Universalis (Россия) в рамках выставки «REQUIEM», приуроченной к 234-й годовщине со дня смерти Вольфганга Амадея Моцарта.

🌟 В галерее Toolip Art Gallery, всего в 50 метрах от дома, где ушел из жизни великий композитор, после исполнения его Реквиема открылся вернисаж. Саундтреком к открытию стали современные классические композиции Universalis из альбомов «In the Domain of Memory» и «Шум из прошлого».

🌟 Мероприятие стало настоящим диалогом эпох: музыкальные традиции встретились с современным искусством, а гости могли попробовать блюда, которые, согласно историческим свидетельствам, любил сам Моцарт.

🇬🇧 A European Debut in the Heart of Classical Music

The Universalis project (Russia) made its European debut in Vienna as part of the exhibition REQUIEM, dedicated to the 234th anniversary of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s passing.

🌟 At the Toolip Art Gallery—located just 50 meters from the house where the great composer spent his final days—the exhibition opening followed a performance of Mozart’s Requiem. The soundtrack to the vernissage featured contemporary classical compositions by Universalis from the albums In the Domain of Memory and Noise from the Past.

🌟 The event became a true dialogue between eras: musical tradition met contemporary art, and guests were offered dishes that, according to historical accounts, Mozart himself enjoyed.

Im Rahmen der Ausstellung „REQUIEM“, die am 234. Jahrestag des Todes von Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart stattfand, fand in Wien das europäische Debüt des Universalis-Projekts (Russland) statt.

🌟 In der Toolip Art Gallery, nur 50 m vom Haus entfernt, in dem der große Komponist sein Leben verließ, wurde nach der Aufführung seines Requiems eine Vernissage eröffnet. Der Soundtrack zur Entdeckung waren moderne klassische Kompositionen von Universalis aus den Alben «In the Domain of Memory» und «Lärm aus der Vergangenhei».

🌟 Die Veranstaltung wurde zu einem echten Dialog der Epochen: musikalische Traditionen trafen auf zeitgenössische Kunst, und die Gäste konnten Gerichte probieren, die Mozart nach historischen Zeugnissen selbst liebte.

🇬🇧 At the Heart of Diplomacy: Year-in-Review Exhibition at MGIMO

Greetings, friends!

As 2025 draws to a close, it is the perfect time to look back and recall the most memorable projects of the Sochi Dialogue. And this time, you can do it not online, but in person.

🌟 From December 15 to 19, the exhibition «Sochi Dialogue: Results of 2025» is taking place in the foyer of the MGIMO conference hall. It is open to everyone interested in Russian–Austrian relations, public diplomacy, and living history.

The first visitors to the exhibition were members of the German Studies Club of the MGIMO Student Scientific Society, for whom we had already presented our projects back in September.

What can you see at the exhibition?

✔️ A photo chronicle of the key events of the year — each one a step toward mutual understanding:

🔵High-level engagement:
The meeting of the President of the Russian Federation, V. V. Putin, with participants of the Congress of Young Scientists, which included our team; and the speech by A. A. Fursenko at the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Moscow Memorandum.

🔵 Dialogue of cultures:
A round table with Austrian students at RSUH, a panel discussion at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, and unique projects — from a summer school on Kant’s legacy in Kaliningrad to the reconstruction of the Nuremberg Trials.

🔵 Memory and the future:
A wreath-laying ceremony in Austria in memory of General Karbyshev, the premiere of the film «Hunting Hares» about the heroism of Soviet prisoners of war in Mauthausen, and active participation in the Congress of Young Scientists.

Das Jahr 2025 neigt sich dem Ende zu, was bedeutet, dass es Zeit ist, zurückzublicken und sich an die wichtigsten Projekte des Forums «Sotschi-Dialog» zu erinnern. Und Sie können dies nicht virtuell, sondern live tun!

🌟 Vom 15. bis 19. Dezember findet im Foyer des MGIMO-Konferenzsaals unsere Ausstellung «Sotschi-Dialog. Die Ergebnisse des Jahres 2025» statt. Sie steht allen offen, die sich für die österreichisch-russischen Beziehungen, die gesellschaftliche Diplomatie und die lebendige Geschichte interessieren.

Die ersten Gäste der Ausstellung waren die AktivistInnen des Vereins für Deutsche Forschung der MGIMO-Universität, vor dem wir bereits im September unsere Projekte vorgestellt haben.

🔵 Dialog der Kulturen: Runder Tisch mit österreichischen StudentInnen an der Russischen Staatlichen Geisteswissenschaftlichen Universität, eine Podiumsdiskussion auf dem Sankt Petersburger Wirtschaftsforum, einzigartige Projekte — von der Sommerschule zum Studium des Kant-Erbes in Kaliningrad bis zur Rekonstruktion des Nürnberger Prozesses.

🔵 Erinnerung und Zukunft: Die Zeremonie der Blumenübergabe an General Karbyschew in Österreich, die Premiere des Films «Hasenjagd» über die Leistung sowjetischer Kriegsgefangener in Mauthausen und die aktive Teilnahme am Kongress junger WissenschaftlerInenn.
