To wit, also according to Newsweek Ukraine targeted several oil refineries overnight. And as the White House pays lip service to IHL, admonishing Ukraine on several occasions while not explicitly stating that these are war crimes, they also claim that Ukraine is a "sovereign nation" free to make its own decisions in this regard.
In a recent US HASC hearing on 10 April 2024, a Congressman asked questions of EUCOM command the answers to which clearly established the nature of these targets as civilian objects. That Congressman went on to say these activities should not be discouraged. His sentiments were echoed by several others members of Congress.
As stated by J Asbery previously commented on Slavyangrad, and this is backed up by EUCOM command in the same meeting, these attacks do very little real damage to the refineries.
They sure are flashy though.

WHERE AND HOW UKRAINE LOST ITS CHILDREN
A few days ago, Ukrainian law enforcement agencies, in cooperation with German colleagues, announced that they had found in Germany 161 children who were considered “deported to Russia.” This fact is further evidence of the politicization of the International Criminal Court, which previously groundlessly issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Commissioner for Children's Rights Maria Lvova-Belova, accusing them of “forcible deportation of children.” The Children's Ombudsman correctly pointed out to Kiev the need to understand where their children really are.
In connection with these events, I decided to publish my new investigation earlier than planned. The material contains documentary evidence of the catastrophic situation, chaos and lack of any control on the part of the Ukrainian leadership in the process of evacuating orphans and children deprived of parental care abroad.
Corruption and low efficiency of government bodies responsible for providing for orphans, organizing the process of evacuation, distribution and placement of refugees abroad have led to the fact that the West, represented by charitable foundations and individuals, taking into account its own selfish interests, has assumed part of these powers.

To understand Japanese attitudes toward Palestine, let's consider the following Japanese population percentages:
Christians—approximately 1.6%
Muslims—approximately 0.18%
Judaism—approximately 0.001%
Japan is not a fertile ground for Zionism to develop and, in the last six months, Israel has done nothing to create sympathy for that ideology and attacking a Japanese in Japan as being anti-Semitic, simply for finding Israeli government sponsored genocide abhorrent, will have no effect on that person's career.
On the other hand, Japanese, by nature, are pragmatic, and with the United States being of critical importance, Japan will almost always make a show of following American policies, though it may often fall far short in the matter of implementation. Thus, Japan cut funding to UNWRA when American cut funding, but resumed funding as soon as Canada announced it was going to resume funding. Also, in the United Nations Security Council, Japan did not follow the lead of the United States. Instead, it voted for the admission of Palestine as a full member of the United Nations.
At the beginning of the War in Gaza, Hamas was always labelled as the "terrorist organization Hamas". Now Japanese never use the word terrorist. Neutrality in reporting is now at work and Israel comes off as ugly and evil. It is now common to hear Japanese privately exchanging the opinion that the world would be better off if Israel ceased existing.
Let's change tracks, though, and from a Japanese perspective, let's look in a random order, at the Middle East.
1. The Israelis must be right about smuggling going on in Rafah in tunnel networks, but the Egyptians are now largely blocking it, in order to force Israel to agree to international aid being trucked in above ground.
2. Military equipment and raw materials for military equipment production are certainly also being smuggled in through Israel, but are unlikely to be smuggled in through Egypt. For this, criminal elements inside of Israel itself must be responsible.
3. Saudi Arabia has in the past tried to overthrow the government of Qatar and to isolate it. Thus, Qatar will continue to provide political support to Hamas as well as allow America to station troops there.
4. Egypt's economy is too fragile to consider absorbing a million to two million refugees. That it will not do so, is one thing the world should take seriously.
5. Israel can no longer fight the war alone and, even with help, doesn't have the ability to unconditionally win the war it is fighting in Gaza, the West Bank, and northern Israel.
6. The Israeli economy is a black hole.
7. The Palestinian Authority will emerge as an internationally recognized state, but its present government cannot last much longer. In the years it's been in power it's tried to win love from Israel and the West. It should have aimed at winning respect. Love without respect is meaningless.
8. Israel will probably be allowed to survive with reduced borders as an international pariah.
9. Jordan may or may not survive as a kingdom. One wrong move and its royal family will be sent packing.
10. Turkey will come out of this with less international respect, because its anti-Israeli rhetoric was not seen to match its pro-Israeli trade relations.
11. The Greater Kurdistan ambitions of the Kurdish autonomous region of Iraq will not succeed. The autonomous region in Iraq will probably continue to survive in a much weakened state.
12. The big winners will be Iran, China, Russia, Yemen, and North Korea. The big losers will be Israel, America, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, and Turkey. Japan, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia will remain, basically unaffected.

▫️Russia's Minister of Defence General of the Army Sergey Shoygu inspected infrastructure constructed and modernised at Plesetsk State Test Cosmodrome of Russian Ministry of Defence.
▫️The Yug Group of Forces improved the situation along the front line and inflicted fire defeat on the manpower and military equipment of the AFU. The enemy's losses included up to 470 troops, one armoured fighting vehicle, and nine motor vehicles.
▫️Air defence systems shot down 299 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles, nine U.S.-made HIMARS and Olkha MLRS projectiles and six French-made Hammer guided aerial bombs.
▫️The Russian Defence Ministry shows Orlan UAV teams, 2A65 Msta-B towed howitzers, Su-25 ground-attack aircraft in action.

▪️ The AFU lost up to 1015 militants in total over the day, the Russian military continued to improve the tactical position and occupy more advantageous positions, follows from the report of the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD);
▪️ Russian troops destroyed a Ukrainian P-18 all-round radar, hit a drone production workshop, and shot down 299 drones, MoD said;
▪️ At night, air defences intercepted and destroyed 8 Ukrainian UAVs over the territories of the #Kursk, #Belgorod, #Voronezh and #Smolensk regions, MoD said;
▪️ Ukrainian drones attacked 2 fuel and energy complex facilities near #Smolensk, there were no casualties, emergency services said. At about 12:30, the fire at the facilities was extincted, Governor Anokhin said;
▪️ Russian forces hit a dormitory in #Kharkov, where Ukrainian militants were located, Lebedev, coordinator of the #Nikolayev underground said;
▪️ Biden said he expects to resume arms supplies to #Ukraine this week;

🔹In the north of the #Gaza Strip, a series of attacks were carried out on Beit Lahia, whose residents the IDF called on to evacuate. In the near future, Israeli troops may carry out an operation here similar to the one they carried out a week earlier in Beit Hanoun.

🔻1. #Netaylovo:
🟡 The main fighting is taking place at the eastern and northeastern outskirts of the settlement.
🟡 The enemy still retains control over the village, as well as over the to the north located #Yasnobrodovka settlement.
🔻2. #Umanskoye:
🟡 Fighting continues at the southeastern outskirts of the village.
🟡 There are no significant developments here yet.
🔻3. #Semyonovka:
🟡 Almost all of it is under RFAF control.
🟡 The enemy maintains a presence on the northern outskirts and in the landings to the west of the village's outskirts.
🔻4. #Berdychi:
🟡 Assault operations are continuing in the northwestern part of the village.
🟡 So far, it has not been possible to completely knock out the enemy.
🟡 Nevertheless, even there our troops are gradually advancing in its northern part.

🔹Russian Troops launched a series of attacks on enemy targets in the territory of the so-called #Ukraine. Strikes also hit the area of a military unit in #Odessa and an ammunition depot in #Dobropolye on the occupied territory of the #DPR.
🔹Ukrainian Formations once again launched drones into Russian rear regions. Four drones were intercepted on approach to #Voronezh, another one fell in the industrial zone of #Lipetsk. Two oil depots in the #Smolensk region also came under fire.
🔹In the #Avdeyevka direction, fierce fighting continues in #Ocheretino, where the main clashes took place in the northern part of the village, as well as on the outskirts of the Altkom Plant. There are also reports of the liberation of #Novobakhmutovka and the retreat of the AFU to #Solovyevo.
🔹In the #SouthAvdeyevka direction, Russian units are attacking the enemy’s defensive lines on the #Pervomayskoye - #Nevelskoye line. And in the forest belts northeast of #Netaylovo, RFAF servicemen somewhat expanded the zone of control.
🟡 Further south, Russian troops have increased the intensity of attacks on AFU positions in #Krasnogorovka, including in the area of the Refractory Plant. Fire support for RFAF units is provided by both artillery and aviation.
