Egyptโs economy endangered by Houthi attacks
Egypt's Suez Canal Authority said it was "closely monitoring" tensions in the Red Sea and their impact on the canal's passage, after attacks by Yemeni militants on ships hundreds of miles to the south prompted major shipping lines to temporarily avoid the region.
Since Nov. 19, 55 ships have headed for the Cape of Good Hope route between Europe and Asia rather than the canal, SCA Chairman Osama Rabie said in a statement Sunday.
Suez Canal transit fees are a major source of foreign currency for Egypt, which is experiencing its worst economic crisis in decades.
In addition, rerouting ships around the tip of Africa will have an impact on global maritime trade.
Flexport Inc., a San Francisco-based freight forwarding platform, said in a blog post that the route around the Cape of Good Hope lengthens the journey by seven to 10 days compared with using the Suez Canal.

While Exodus records a divine call to ethnic cleansing, Deuteronomy records a divine call to the genocide of seven nations in the Middle East. It is important to be fully aware of this because it is part of the mind-set of Mr. Netanyahu's war cabinet and a large faction of the Knesset (the Israeli parliament). As my interpretation is bound to trigger certain people's emotions, I am including immediately below the relevant passages from Deuteronomy 7:1-3. ๐บ๐ธ Pentagon has recently dispatched a carrier strike group to the Gulf of Aden in response to attacks on ships in the Red Sea by Yemen's Ansar Allah rebel movement, also known as the Houthis, American press reported, citing anonymous officials.
Earlier in the day, the War Zone website reported, citing an unnamed Pentagon official, that US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin will announce the launch of an international operation dubbed Prosperity Guardian during his trip to the Middle East next week to protect ships in the Red Sea from the threat posed by the Houthis.
Another official was quoted as saying that the US military also gave commanders the option to "strike the Houthis."

Russia has seriously increased its chances of winning the confrontation with Ukraine, Daily Express reports.
The newspaper cites the opinion of retired British Air Vice-Marshal Sean Bell, who states that the situation on the front line has not changed in Kiev's favour:
The expert believes that the change in the US administration will further complicate the situation for Kiev, demonstrating the advantages of Russia's strategy towards Ukraine, which aims to "play the long game".

๐นIn #Kherson Direction, shooting battles continue in #Krynki. Due to the activity of the AFU artillery, the situation remains difficult. However, our forces are more actively engaged in the liquidation of the foothold. Ukrainian resources report that ours have pulled up armoured vehicles.
๐นIn #Zaporozhye Direction, our military continue to retake positions. The AFU are trying not to give in, using all available weapons. At night, our military is disturbed by large Baba Yaga drones. From them, the enemy drops mines on our positions. It is reported from the field that recently several militants of the AFU surrendered after ours threw them a walkie-talkie from a drone.
๐นIn #SouthDonetsk Direction, our army continues to attack south of #Novomikhaylovka and near #Pobeda. Having almost completed the clearing of #Maryinka's outskirts, our fighters are actively moving towards #Kurakhovo.
๐นIn #Donetsk Direction, on the southern #Avdeyevka flank, our units have expanded their zone of control north of #Opytnoye after severe fighting. Ours have also made advances towards #Severnoye and #Tonenkoye. There is also progress at #Vodyanoye. To the west of the village, our army is advancing north of the Novoavdeyevskoye Pond, creating additional tension for the AFU garrison in #Pervomayskoye. There is also a movement of ours westwards from the quarry near the Vinogradniki Gardening Community. On the northern flank, fighting on the ground has somewhat subsided due to difficult weather conditions for armoured vehicles. Aviation compensates, a powerful blow was inflicted on the AFU positions near #Krasnogorovka.
๐นIn #Bakhmut Direction, southwest of the city, our army is attacking AFU positions in the direction of #Krasnoye (#Ivanovskoye). To the south, fighting continues in #Kleshcheyevka. According to reports from the field, the northern part of the village is under full control of our forces. In the southwest, the enemy still holds several positions. Northwest of the city, our forces are storming the AFU positions near #Bogdanovka. But near #Soledar, the AFU have suddenly become active and are trying to attack. Ours confidently repulse them, there are no changes in the frontline.
