The Spectator admits that no one cares about Ukraine anymore and that by continuing to provide weapons and financial support, the West is killing it.
๐ปAt the beginning, the story was filled with exciting dramatic events. But Ukraine's counteroffensive last summer was simply a failure. For several months in a row, every centimeter of liberated territory was gained at the cost of enormous losses. The battle lines have hardly budged for several months, and now the visual picture of the conflict resembles the meat grinder of the Western Front of the First World War;
๐ปThe average age of the Ukrainian army is now 43 years. The young men are running out, not because they don't want to serve, but because they are dead. Ukrainian women are sent to the front line. The Russian public did not rebel. Russian GDP has grown since last year. The ruble began to rise against the dollar. Western sanctions have failed;
๐ปNo matter how much ammunition the US and NATO deliver to Zelensky, we will not provide him with soldiers. I say this with a heavy heart: if a negotiated settlement ceding captured territory to Putin looks inevitable, perhaps it is time to call on the Zelensky government to begin negotiations to bring this dismal war to its depressing conclusion. Prolonging the protracted stalemate only leads to an increase in the number of victims and the pointless destruction of Ukrainian homes and infrastructure;
๐ปSitting back and giving weapons so that they continue to fight until the last Ukrainian, only for the country to end up where we always knew it would end up, is not just immoral, it is murder.

Deindustrialization continues to gain momentum in Germany
Number of corporate bankruptcies increased by over 20%
The current reports from the economy are alarming and show that the de-industrialization of Germany is continuing to gain momentum. The federal government is driving the German economy purposefully and at full speed to the wall.

At the beginning of December, Der Spiegel reported on a survey by the Institute of the German Economy reports that only 23 percent of German companies are positive about 2024, while 35 percent have negative expectations. The main reason for this is the sharp increase in energy prices, although of course it is said that the reason for this is the โRussian invasion of Ukraineโ.
Both Spiegel and the German Economic Institute fail to mention that energy prices have exploded because Berlin and Brussels no longer want to buy cheap Russian oil and gas, but instead rely on more expensive LNG from the USA. One can find Russia's actions bad, but Russia is not to blame for the skyrocketing energy prices; they are a consequence of the decisions made in Berlin and Brussels.
And these decisions are driving the deindustrialization of Germany ever faster. The Greens will be happy because a deindustrialized Germany will emit less CO2.

Ukrainian telegram channels draw attention to the economic component of the war and its consequences for the citizens of Ukraine:
While everyone is rejoicing over yet another IMF loan, no one is paying attention to the interest rates at which we are being financed during the war. None of the officials are talking about freezing the debt or even writing it off, but that is the support of the West.
The interest on the IMF loan is no longer 7% a year, but 8.3-8.5%. On the body of 11.3 billion SDRs, we will pay 941-972 million SDRs in 2025-2026.... That's 1.3 billion dollars a year in interest!
In fact, this is why the West has been pouring oil on the fire.

Nasdaq 100 ends week at record high amid Fedโs rate decision
The US central bank left the benchmark interest rate unchanged as policymakers refused to raise rates further, instead outlining three rate cuts for next year.
Amid this the Nasdaq 100 closed at an all-time high - the last time it traded at a record price was two years ago.
The S&P 500 index and the tech-heavy gauge index showed a seven-week series of wins.
And here is how some of the major currencies performed today:
- The Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index rose 0.4%
- The euro fell 0.9%
- The British pound fell 0.7%
- The Japanese yen fell 0.2%

The same amount of Western aid to the enemy is not expected in the near future, but Ukraine's masters are not cancelling the task of inflicting lasting damage on #Russia. Kiev in 2023 has stepped on the same rake as Moscow did in early 2022. Underestimation of the enemy, a long period of "beautiful reports", and hat-trickery in the media. The latter is leading in #Ukraine to a gradual epiphany of part of the enemy's population, but in the wrong direction. For them, we remain the enemy, and it is all the fault of specific Zelensky, who should be replaced by Zaluzhny, and everything will get better. Contributing to this sentiment are the massive hits on Zelensky in the Western media, whose headlines directly link the failures of the AFU to the name of the Ukrainian president.

Emotions among military bloggers were aroused by the words with reference to the military department about "only sanitary losses" of the RF Armed Forces near the ill-fated #Krynki. โช๏ธ #Kherson direction without significant changes. The enemy in wiped out #Krynki even tried to intensify, hitting the rear areas with barrel artillery and MLRS HIMARS. It organised mass raids on the region and neighbouring #Crimea with its UAVs, but failed to achieve its goals. They are facing problems on the frontline in manpower and have urgently started to transfer personnel from Territorial Defence to the Marines. In the Western and Ukrainian press, the failed AFU operation is explained by Zelensky's personal PR, which is achieved at the expense of losses.
โช๏ธ On the #Zaporozhye front, the Russians began to squeeze the enemy near #Rabotino in local battles. At #Verbovoye there are counter battles. Units of the 7th Air Assault Division carry out daring raids by armoured vehicles on AFU positions. Here, as in the #Kherson region, our aviation carries out constant strikes with FABs and UMPCs on the enemy's rear.
โช๏ธ #Maryinka has been taken, and the outskirts are being cleared. The movement of the Russian Army from the city to the south, to the #Pobeda settlement, has become important. The simultaneous activation of our troops in the direction of #Novomikhaylovka indicates a plan to reach #Ugledar from the northeast. The AFU prepare also for defence in #Kurakhovo, west of #Maryinka.
โช๏ธ The Russian Army after heavy fights broke into the outskirts of #Avdeyevka, remnants of the enemy are being eliminated in the #Vinogradniki cottage village near the industrial zone. At the neck of the "Avdeevka sack" our control zone is gradually expanding, the enemy is redeploying troops from other parts of the front and moving them to the city. The fighting is fierce and bloody.
โช๏ธ In the #Artyomovsk direction our troops advance towards Chasov Yar. The town should be taken from the north due to the terrain. Battles are taking place at #Bogdanovka, #Khromovo, #Kleshcheyevka. Offensives north of #Soledar were reported.
โช๏ธ Near the #Torskoye ledge, in the #Serebryanskoye forestry and in the #Kupyank sector, local battles are taking place.

๐นIn the #Zaporozhye Direction, the RF Armed Forces continued to attack Ukrainian positions west of #Rabotino village and from the direction of #Novoprokopovka. The AFU tried to advance near #Verbovoye.โ ๏ธ The frontline did not change significantly. (Fig. 1)
๐นOn the #Donetsk Front, the RF AFU managed to make a significant advance from the south towards #Novomikhaylovka and reach the outskirts of the village. โ ๏ธ The fighting is taking place over the AFU stronghold, which has been impregnable since the beginning of the conflict. Now the Ukrainian positions in it are "hanging". The RF Armed Forces are also trying to storm another fortified area of the AFU in #Pobeda,โ ๏ธ with no promotion yet.โ ๏ธ Russian troops took new positions in the area of the industrial zone southeast of #Avdeyevka. They also conducted assault operations in #Stepovoye (not to be confused with the settlements of the same name in the Zaporozhye and Ugledar directions) and near #Novokalinovo. (Fig. 2)
๐นIn the #Bakhmut Direction, the RF Armed Forces are trying to dislodge Ukrainian troops from the heights northwest of #Kleshcheyevka. They are also attacking near #Bogdanovka with the aim of reaching Chasov Yar. (Fig. 3)

๐นIn the #Zaporozhye Direction, the RF Armed Forces continued to attack Ukrainian positions west of #Rabotino village and from the direction of #Novoprokopovka. The AFU tried to advance near #Verbovoye.โ ๏ธ The frontline did not change significantly. (Fig. 1)
๐นOn the #Donetsk Front, the RF AFU managed to make a significant advance from the south towards #Novomikhaylovka and reach the outskirts of the village. โ ๏ธ The fighting is taking place over the AFU stronghold, which has been impregnable since the beginning of the conflict. Now the Ukrainian positions in it are "hanging". The RF Armed Forces are also trying to storm another fortified area of the AFU in #Pobeda,โ ๏ธ with no promotion yet.โ ๏ธ Russian troops took new positions in the area of the industrial zone southeast of #Avdeyevka. They also conducted assault operations in #Stepovoye (not to be confused with the settlements of the same name in the Zaporozhye and Ugledar directions) and near #Novokalinovo. (Fig. 2)
๐นIn the #Bakhmut Direction, the RF Armed Forces are trying to dislodge Ukrainian troops from the heights northwest of #Kleshcheyevka. They are also attacking near #Bogdanovka with the aim of reaching Chasov Yar. (Fig. 3)
๐นIn the #Lugansk Direction, Russian troops are trying to break through the AFU defences west of #Yagodnoye and near #Sinkovka.โ ๏ธ The frontline has not changed significantly. (Fig. 4)
