The large camp has 650 tents and 6 warehouses, enough to accommodate over 3,000 fighters. According to the Qatari Think Tank 'Eekad' the purpose of the base is to station the Rapid Support Forces, with the possibility of opening a new front against Sudan via the Sennar region.

Ethiopian media has recently been amplifying a false claim of an alleged build-up of TPLF-70 (anti Addis Ababa Tigray group in Sudan) along the disputed Fasherga region.
