What is your docker base image for your #Python/#DataScience projects?
Could some one recommend a good article about selecting the best docker base image for your project?
Alpine seemed to be the de-facto choice. However, I have checked some benchmarks showing that u[sing Alpine can make Python Docker builds 50× slower](https://pythonspeed.com/articles/alpine-docker-python/). The benchmark was [criticized](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22182226https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22182226), but I didn't see good alternative. Another [benchmark](https://nickjanetakis.com/blog/benchmarking-debian-vs-alpine-as-a-base-docker-image) on debian-vs-alpine shows the flaws.
I have seen also some discussions [\[1\]](https://mail.python.org/archives/list/distutils-sig@python.org/thread/H3323AXRRLJAYOY2XZKS74IOUQMJUOYD/) on the problem.
1/ Do you have any good images with best practices. I will mainly use it for data science projects
2/ Do you recommend using [ubuntu images](https://ubuntu.com/blog/minimal-ubuntu-released). I don't want to use mini-conda
