两个研究团队独立演示了远距传输三维量子比特（qutrit）。三维量子比特能携带更多的信息，比量子比特更能抵抗噪音。中科大的 Guang-Can Guo 团队于 4 月 28 日在预印本网站发表论文，报告了他们的工作，但论文尚未通过同行审议；奥地利科学院 Anton Zeilinger 和中科大潘建伟领导的国际研究小组于 6 月 24 日在预印本网站发表论文，论文已通过同行审议，将发表在《Physical Review Letters》期刊上。经典系统中的比特在同一时间只能是 0 或 1，但量子计算机系统中的量子比特在同一时间可以 0 也可以是 1，即 0 和 1 的叠加态；而三维量子比特则可以同时处于 0，1，2 这三个的叠加态，这也意味着制造三维量子比特比量子比特更困难。两个团队都利用光子的三分支路径创造三维量子比特。创造三维量子比特只是一个小小的开端，研究人员之后还需要将两个三维量子比特纠缠起来。Media

旨在让每个网站都能使用 HTTPS 加密的非赢利组织 Let's Encrypt 发布了简体中文版，方便中文用户使用 Let's Encrypt 签发的证书 。中文版主要是汉化了一下主页和文档，而文档实际上还没有完成翻译，感兴趣的志愿者可以通过 GitHub 帮助它翻译网站文档。Let's Encrypt 目前支持包括中文在内的七种语言，它的证书已获得了主要浏览器开发商的信任。Media
