Swiss high-end industry has been struggling to keep up with the chinese new luxury exports. Rolex, Nestlé, Nescafé, Jaeger Lecoultre, Hublot, Tissot and literally more than I can afford to list have been slowly designating the US as the main export market, simply because Europeans can less and less afford their products unless they're really high upper-class.

European middle-class has pivoted away more and more from swiss products to chinese or EU-made stuff lately and every projection confirmed it.

Personally, as an artisan in that specific field, i went ahead and dug up data from 3 years ago within my files. Same contractors, different products and different demands.

In Q1 2023, 10% of my work was on pieces destined for US-targeted products and commands.

In Q3 2025, it was 30% despite the tariffs.

It tripled in nearly 2 years despite a literal trade war. It's only me and I'm not a big producer.

In 2021, the US became the first trading country with Switzerland regardless of the sector, overtaking Germany. Switzerland still trades more with the EU today but the US is soon going to overtake the entire EU as trading partner.
