Ukraine has received its first shipment of US liquefied natural gas in 2026. Nearly 100 million cubic meters, enough to provide gas to about 700,000 families for one month during the winter period, arrived via Poland, according to Naftogaz. The delivery was organized with Poland’s state-owned company ORLEN and was received in late January.

An explosion occurred at a local combined heat and power plant in the city of Chita in Russia’s Zabaykalsky Krai. As a result, most of the city was left without electricity.

The nuclear talks scheduled for Friday have been canceled after Iran backed away from previous understandings, two senior US officials said. Israeli journalist Amit Segal reported that a US official said President Trump is now favoring military action against Iran.

Latvia’s PM Evika Silina and Estonia’s President Alar Karis backed appointing a special EU envoy for talks with Russia on ending the war in Ukraine, Euronews reports. They said any dialogue must be coordinated with Ukraine and led by a credible consensus figure.

Dmitry Medvedev issued yet another nuclear threat, saying Russia and the United States no longer have any agreement limiting strategic nuclear forces for the first time since 1972. He accompanied the statement with an image reading "Winter is coming."

Plans for US Iran nuclear talks in Oman on Friday are back on after several Arab and Muslim leaders urged Washington not to walk away, Barak Ravid reports. US officials said the meeting will proceed despite strong skepticism about its chances.
