How Psychologists Deal with Overwhelm 🧠

Use the "eat the elephant" rule. 🐘
If you're overwhelmed by a big task and can't get started, try breaking it down into smaller steps. "This significantly eases the task, and most importantly, you see immediate results! It's like being asked to eat an elephant. Clearly, you could only do it by cutting it into small steaks."

Breathe deeply. 🌬️
This is one of the oldest calming techniques in the world and one of the most effective. A few deep breaths help activate the part of the nervous system responsible for slowing the heartbeat and lowering blood pressure. Focused deep breathing can temporarily distract you from your problems.

Allow yourself to feel negative emotions. 😒
The temptation to shake off a bad mood and immediately suppress negative emotions is strong, but it can be harmful. Instead, therapists advise allowing yourself to experience all the emotions that arise. "Don't force your feelings to be quiet; instead, ask yourself what's happening."

Go for a walk. πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ
Just step outside for some fresh air. Ideally, head out of town to a park or at least a local square, but even a short walk down your street can be beneficial. The key is to focus on the walk. Turn off your phone, don't rush anywhere, and enjoy the process of walking. 🌿

🌟 Embracing Life's Joys 🌟

πŸ€” "How can I rejoice in life when all around me are problems?"

πŸ’¬ "Understand: life isn't given to wait for the storm to pass. It's given to learn how to dance in the rain." πŸ’ƒπŸŒ§οΈ

🎲 Risk It to Win It πŸš€

Risk makes us feel alive. This applies to work, relationships, and even the everyday decisions we make. When something important is at stake, we engage more deeply in the process. 🎯

Life is about sacrifice and taking risks. If an experience lacks a moderate dose of sacrifice while involving risk, it cannot truly be called a life. An adventure that doesn't offer risk and isn't fraught with losses you can (or cannot) recover from, is no adventure at all. Reality demands danger. πŸ’₯
