Money quote: "The keynote is taking place in the new Steve Jobs Theater, itself a small marvel of engineering, ingenuity and attention to detail. ‘If the overall project is a small town, then this is the town hall, and jewel,’ says Stefan Behling, a Foster + Partners partner and one of the lead architects on Apple Park. Above ground, the theatre is essentially a 165ft-diameter glass rotunda with no visible support. ‘In the beginning there was just this idea: “Let’s have a hovering roof”, just this sliver of roof floating in the landscape,’ says Behling. ‘And it has been the most difficult building of my career.’"

Semplicemente, apri Netflix e cerca “Long Shot”.

Money quote: “Kansas runs one of the most secretive state governments in the nation, and its secrecy permeates nearly every aspect of service, The Star found in a months-long investigation.
From the governor’s office to state agencies, from police departments to business relationships to health care, on the floors of the House and Senate, a veil has descended over the years and through administrations on both sides of the political aisle.”

Money quote: "America has no death from karōshi. We don’t count it as a category of death, and therefore in our measurable world it doesn’t exist. We are productive without price. Not because people aren’t dying, they surely are, uncounted lives and families are smothered with despair. There is no price because there’s no measure to quantify what we are losing.
Many people, especially in technology, say their productivity is changing the world, and this is irrefutable. But no one seems to know what they’re changing it into, because no one can measure the world. When no one can measure the world, how much can it really exist?"

Money quote: "After Stalin’s death, the use of normal radios – what the Soviets called “wave receivers” – picked up. By 1963, the use of normal radio broadcasting began to exceed wired radio. Around the same time, Soviet jamming of external radio broadcasts peaked. Arguably, the USSR spent more resources on its 2500 jamming transmitters than it did on domestic radio broadcast infrastructure. By the 1970’s, the use of wired radio began to decline rapidly, especially outside of the Russian Federation.
There is some debate as to how much of the Soviet use of wired radio was political versus economic. I suspect it was both. The Communist Part encouraged citizens to listen to radio collectively rather than individually. Restricting broadcasting infrastructure to state owned wiring enabled control. At the same time, it was probably cheaper to wire speakers around the country than to build a western-style broadcasting system."

Early Soviet Radio Broadcasting - Wires Galore - Making It Up
While the wonders of wireless entertainment swept over the world during the 1930's, early Soviet radio broadcasting took a much different path.
