Belle foto scattate in India

Money quote: “I really enjoyed playing with Portrait Lighting. There are a couple of quick tips/tricks I picked up to make the most of it, so I recorded a screen capture for you (also new in iOS 11) to explain”

Money quote: “Now that President Trump has announced his intention to withdraw the U.S. from the 2015 Paris Agreement, what does it mean for the stated goals of the accord, and what might be the impact on markets and investors?

To put it simply, very little changes. Current country commitments are already insufficient to hold global warming to under 2° Celsius from preindustrial levels, the stated goal of the accords. We acknowledge the possible risk that other countries could follow suit in withdrawing from the agreement, but none has voiced this yet, while Europe and China are doubling down. In fact, President Trump's decision diverges from what many companies and investors have been signaling lately. Further, we reiterate our view that most sectors are currently driven by economics and technology rather than policy”

Money quote: “I've known Petr Mára for few years now, he's a nice guy. He's a speaker, trainer, video blogger, and deploys iOS & macOS wherever possible. And also loves to travel. He and his wife went to Hong Kong to celebrate her birthday in May 2016 but Petr didn't say for how long they'd enjoy the city. And of course I had to know. It was this moment when I'd noticed that there's a booking reference YJVFKG and some other barcode on boarding passes posted by Petr on Instagram before their departure. You better not publish your booking reference or any other codes or barcodes from your boarding passes or any tickets in general.”

Money quote: “Whatever you think of the resulting legislation, the process was grotesque: the Spanish film industry got one of its officials into power, then promoted a tough new law backed by the threats (and even active lobbying) of the US government—though the US didn't take the same measures itself.”

Il disastro ambientale non ha limiti. E la parte microscopica è quella realmente drammatica.

Money quote: "Researchers believe the majority of the contamination comes from microfibres and single-use plastics such as water bottles, items that comprise the majority of plastic waste. Up to 12.7m tonnes of plastic enters the world’s oceans every year, equivalent to dumping one garbage truck of plastic per minute into the world’s oceans, according to the United Nations."

Money quote: "It sounds fantastical enough to have been created by Terry Pratchett or J.K. Rowling, but the Conjuring Arts Research Center is very much real, and one of the world’s greatest collections of books dedicated to the deceptive arts."

Money quote: ““It’s important that we be transparent about the training data that we are using, and are looking for hidden biases in it, otherwise we are building biased systems,” Giannandrea added. “If someone is trying to sell you a black box system for medical decision support, and you don’t know how it works or what data was used to train it, then I wouldn’t trust it.””

Money quote: "The thick, black-and-white rulebook packaged with every copy of the 1979 war-game The Campaign For North Africa is full of obtuse decrees, but the tabletop community always had a special appreciation for entry 52.6 - affectionately known as the “macaroni rule.” The Italian troops in World War II were outfitted with noodle rations, and in the name of historical dogma, the player responsible for the Italians is required to distribute an extra water ration to their forces, so that their pasta may be boiled. Soldiers that do not receive their “pasta point” may immediately become “disorganized,” rendering them useless in the field. It’s a fact of life really: if the Italians can’t boil their pasta, the Italians may desert.

It was a joke, by the way. Richard Berg, the legendary game designer and author of The Campaign For North Africa, says so himself. He’ll happily admit that this was an unreasonable game for unreasonable people, but still, a pasta point? There’s attention to detail, and then there’s taking the piss. As Berg explains, the rule wasn’t even entirely factually accurate. “The reality is that the Italians cooked their pasta with the tomato sauce that came with the cans,” he says. “But I didn’t want to do a rule on that.” Yes, at the pinnacle of North Africa’s ridiculous excess, even Berg couldn’t help but poke a little fun at the obsessives in his wake."

Money quote: “Over more than 20 years, I have spent many hours in discussions with top North Korean officials and private citizens during visits to Pyongyang and to the countryside. I found Kim Il Sung (their “Great Leader”), Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly, and other leaders to be both completely rational and dedicated to the preservation of their regime”

Money quote: “In the last year, interest in cryptocurrencies has skyrocketed. The public cryptocurrency market cap has surged to highs of over $170B. With over 1.5B raised through ICOs in 2017, over 70 crypto exchanges open for business, and crypto hedge funds and VCs popping up left and right, it seems that everyone is clambering to get a seat on the rocketship.”
