DroneShield ha creato Drone Gun, un gigantesco fucilone (che in realtà non spara niente di visibile) per disabilitare a distanza i droni indiscreti che volano sulle proprietà private. L'azienda è americana e attende l'approvazione della FCC, l'ente che regola le cose che sono senza fili negli Usa.

L'oggetto, a parte l'aspetto veramente spaventoso, è un grosso jammer per varie frequenze radio, che blocca segnale audio e video oltre a bloccare i comandi radio. A seconda del tipo di drone "jammato" l'oggetto può tornare automaticamente al punto di lancio, atterrare gentilmente là dove si trova oppure venire giù come una pera. Il "danno" non dovrebbe essere permanente perché il jammer impedisce la ricezione di comandi radio, non "frigge" l'elettronica di bordo (non spara impulsi elettromagnetici da film di fantascienza, insomma).

Da notare la retorica del breve spot dimostrativo, con l'hacker insidioso che cerca di "vedere" e la guardia giurata che risponde in modo maschio, soddisfacente e definitivo.

La struttura di un'azienda conta. Ad esempio, di solito i grandi colossi sono basati su divisioni, mentre le piccole e snelle aziende lavorano in maniera funzionale. Apple è forse una delle più grandi eccezioni a questa regola, dato che è la più grande azienda del mondo per capitalizzazione di mercato ma ha un assetto funzionale. È stata la chiave del suo successo per venti anni ma si porta dietro anche dei limiti importanti, tra i quali i ritardi nell'aggiornamento prodotti che altre aziende fanno uscire fuori con regolarità.

Aveva una struttura che le permetteva di andare avanti senza bisogno di assumere vagonate di persone, innovando e producendo lo stesso. Il "partito rivoluzionario" si è istituzionalizzato? È un modo per ridistribuire la ricchezza? A me sembra solo che abbia aumentato a dismisura la complessità in un settore, le risorse umane, in cui non era affatto necessario.

L'idea è che lo scopo delle metafore non sia abbellire il testo ma cambiare il quadro concettuale di chi legge. Cambiargli il modo di pensare e, per dirla tutta, proprio la mente. Che bello.
