Si possono fare soldi con i libri? In inglese e toccando certi argomenti o generi a quanto pare sì. Ma non tantissimi. Qui una storia di quelli che sono nella parte statisticamente più fortunata ma i cui guadagni non si possono definire "enormi": 400 dollari al mese, seppure senza promozione. Il tutto spiegato bene.

I sistemi automatici rendono più facili molte cose, ma introducono nuovi problemi. Gli utenti si vedono erodere le proprie competenze, i sistemi sono molto sicuri e per questo quando vanno in tilt sono situazioni molto difficili da gestire. Il risultato è che gli incidenti sono meno ma diventano molto più pericolosi. Ci sono cose molto belle e cose molto adatte a un ponte di novembre casalingo. Inoltre, OpenCulture ricorda che anche loro hanno una un'ampia videoteca classica gratuita.

Due settimane fa ero a Hong Kong. C'è il volo diretto da Milano Malpensa con Cathay Pacific. Sempre pieno. Un vicino mi chiedeva: ma Alitalia perché non vola su Hong Kong da Milano? Dopotutto è la porta per Shenzen e la Cina tutta: la destinazione finale delle nostre PMI, per dire.

Giusto un grafico veloce con Google Trends per valutare l'impatto del lancio dei nuovi portatili di Apple nelle ore immediatamente successive al Keynote di giovedì. La chiave si ricerca è "MacBook alternative". Il risultato parecchio interessante, per chi si occupa di "sentiment" della rete.

Si può morire di eccesso di Apple? A quanto pare Xiaomi non sta morendo, ma la sua strategia la sta comunque penalizzando fortemente in Cina, dove altre aziende di elettronica e smartphone dall'approccio più convenzionale stanno Invece emergendo.

Tizi che vanno a giro per Amsterdam facendo foto con la loro vecchia Yashica Mat (biottica medio formato ovviamente a pellicola) e con la loro Sony compatta. La prima parte di intro è intimistica e un po' cavernosa, ma la seconda parte con il "camera car" fatto con la GoPro dei poveri è inquietante e seducente al tempo stesso. Le foto sono praticamente tutte orrende.

Apple ha presentato i suoi nuovi portatili e ci sono state un sacco di critiche per una serie di ragioni ampia e assolutamente sensata (potenza, batteria, costo). Queste e altre ragioni però si sono tramutate in un attacco piuttosto violento da parte di un sacco di persone che a quanto pare non vedono l'ora di criticare con violenza (ma perché?) i prodotti creati da un'azienda. Una situazione abbastanza paradossale. In questo contesto ho trovato un articolo piuttosto interessante che ritorna su un piano più razionale. Anche perché il problema di fondo di questo momento rimane.
