Tips for Exam hall for UPSC Prelims 2024:

1. Last moment check list :

Admit Card:
Ensure you have kept your admit card with you. Your physical appearance (look) should be same as in your admit card photograph.

Photographs:
Carry recent photographs in case the photo on your admit card is unclear.

Black Ball Point Pens: Carry 2-3 pens to avoid any issues. It is advisable to use 1mm tip ball point pen to darken the circles of OMR.

Transparent writing Pad:
It will be useful for keeping your answer sheet stable as in some Govt Schools tables are not smooth.

Water Bottle:
Stay hydrated throughout the exam, carry water bottle.

Plan Travel to Centre: Know the location and plan your route in advace. Check travel time in same time frame and check for availabilty of public transport.

Advance Taxi Booking: Book your transport in advance to avoid last-minute hassles. On the day of exam taxies and autos are fall insufficient due to high demand.

Take Light Food on Previous Day:
Avoid heavy meals to stay light and focused.

Take Proper Sleep on night before exam:
Ensure you get adequate sleep the night before the exam. Try to reorient your biological clock as per exam day.

2. During the Exam:

Be Composed and Calm: Maintain your composure to think clearly.

Flip the paper in firts 2-3 minutes:
Go through paper and check whether questions are legnthy or consise, it will help in fixing your speed meter.

Attempt Easy Questions First:
Start with questions you are confident about.

Start from your strong Area:
Begin with the section you are strongest in. Choose and set the priority of strenth areas.

Attempt the paper in Two to Three Rounds:
In First round attempt and mark those questions in which you are fully confident and put cross sign in those questions which are difficult or not known. Tough questions can be escaped. In second round attempt the confusing questions and take calcuulated risk.

Do not make wild guess: Avoid wild guess & over reading. Usually first intution will be closest to correct answer.

Use Common Sense and Smart Guess:
Make educated guesses when necessary. In case of Sc& Tech and Environment and ecology questions language of wuestions gives the idea of correct atatements.

Fill OMR wisely and do not wait till end:
Fill the OMR sheet simulateously and not at the last minute. Last minute wait can be blunder if time estimated to fill is insufficient.

Number of questions to be Attempted:
Aspirants need to balance between attempting enough questions and maintaining accuracy. Number of questions to be attempted may vary based upon difficulty level of paper, candidate’s accuracy level and category. Usually 80- 90 questions are treated as ideal attempt.

Skip Difficult Questions:
If a question seems too tough or very lengthy then skip it and move on.

3. During the Gap Between Both Papers:

Don’t Take Heavy Food: Avoid feeling lethargic by eating light.

Avoid Oily Food:
Keep your diet simple and easy to digest.

Take Energy Drink, water and Rest in cool place: Stay energized and rest to refresh your mind.

Avoid Discussing GS Paper:
Avoid post-mortem of the first paper, it can affect your focus and may cause anxiety.

Avoid Reading during gap time:
During gap time give rest to your mind and try to gain mental strenth.

4. Attempt of CSAT Paper :

Go Through Paper / Flip for 8-10 Min:
Quickly scan the entire paper to get an overview.
Identify the easy & do-able Questions (30 to 40questions).

Focus on questions that you identified:
Give more time in the scoring /Identified questions: Allocate more time to such questions you are sure about to maximize your score.
