He had given them everything, was ready to do anything for them, but in return—only fear and betrayal. At the first sign of danger, they turned their backs on him, erasing him from their lives. Anger and confusion overwhelmed him, leaving him unsure of what to do next.

Rex walked along the road that started at the northern gates of the city. After a week, the thick jungle parted, revealing the shore of a large body of water. He didn’t have a boat, nor did he have the desire to cross the water. He stood still, uncertain of where to go. His gaze settled on a hut perched on a cliff, where the jungle gave way to a rocky, dangerous shore.
