Years ago after the 4th I had a bunch of mortars and roman candles. By myself at a pound drinking and smoking. Was dancing around the dark with roman candles and I dropped one. In my infinite intoxicated wisdom I put stood on it and waited. Felt like a long time, still holding the other one as it was blasting and then BOOM had this ring vibrate through my foot and go up my leg with this immense fire ball erupting from my foot.

No injuries, rolled another j and went home. Alot of the handheld fireworks are pretty low yield so you can get away with bs like that but if it was anything else I'd be walking with a limp today.

first attempt at falafel. honestly? not bad! the chickpeas should have soaked for another 3ish hours anyway, they were quite dry and that makes for a dense and crumbly falafel. still, it's a deliciously nutty flavor, and super crunchy. went a bit hard on the garlic, but that's ok. needs more of the herbs for sure.

if these were soaked a little more and had some extra herbs, it would probably have been closer to the Ideal Falafel i had down south...

furthermore: had i put some lettuce in there and a lighter sauce (not ketchup/mustard, maybe a cucumber based sauce?) this would just be an old world whopper. it does the same job. tons of veg, meaty filler, sauce and bread
