AOC faces backlash for using 'First they came ... ' Holocaust poem in defense of Omar
#US Rep. #AlexandriaOcasioCortez continues to ignite outrage while defending freshman colleague Rep. #IlhanOmar, this time by using a poem about the #Holocaust to defend the #MN #Democrat. Omar most recently stirred up controversy when remarks she made last month, referring to the 9/11 terrorist attacks as “some people did something,” surfaced this week.
Ocasio-Cortez slammed President #DonaldTrump, who shared a grim video featuring Omar’s remarks alongside footage of the Twin Towers being attacked. “Members of Congress have a duty to respond to the President’s explicit attack today,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted Friday. “@IlhanMN’s life is in danger. For our colleagues to be silent is to be complicit in the outright, dangerous targeting of a member of Congress. We must speak out.”

Israeli Minister: Whoever Published NY Times ‘Nazi Propaganda’ Cartoon Must Be Fired
#Israel’s outgoing Public Security Minister #GiladErdan has compared a #NewYorkTimes caricature published in its international edition with “Nazi propaganda from the period of the Holocaust” and says that whoever is responsible for its publication should be fired. The cartoon in question, published on Thursday, portrays Prime Minister #BibiNetanyahu as a dog, with the Jewish Star of David symbol dangling from his collar. Netanyahu’s leash is held by #US President #DonaldTrump, who is depicted as a blind man wearing a skullcap.
On Saturday, the newspaper tweeted an acknowledgment that the cartoon contained “anti-Semitic tropes” and deleted it. However, it did not unequivocally apologize. “The New York Times cartoon is outrageous and reminiscent of #Nazi propaganda from the period of the #Holocaust,” Erdan tweeted.
