Bear Milk
In European tradition Bear Milk is attributed special properties. Many heroes are given special properties such as strength by being nursed by it, Atalanta being one example. Though it can also give the bearlike element of stealing maidens such as with Paris in the Trojan War. In the Medieval Romance of Valentine and Orson, Orson is kidnapped from his mother by a bear and reared on Bear Milk as a result he gained a pelt of thick hair and immense strength living his life as a bear and/or wildman. He is eventually discovered by his brother Valentine and the two go on numerous adventures before Orson becomes a great and powerful king. In the widespread tale of the half bear son, two varieties exist one such is that of the women impregnated by a bear, whose offspring goes on to accomplish great deeds and found nations. While another has the child nursed in the bears cave or with bears milk achieving bearlike strength and power, such as the well known tale of John of the Bear.-TLK

The Yule Bear and His Maiden Fair
One of the oldest and most widespread elements of Hyperborean faith is the Bear cult. While this can often be traced to a Bear Mother progenitor there is also a male Bear god often depicted as a Hairy Wildman found in Fairy Tales, Legends, Myths, and even Wilder Mann customs. This marriage of a Maiden Nature God and The Bear can be witnessed across our lands.
In Slavia The Bear Tsar is often trying to find himself a young bride in the tales of White Bear King Valemon & Snow White and Rose Red or Even The Marriage of The Bear King Sir Arthur and Guinevere. Various Gods such as Wotan, Old Man of the Mountain, Arthur, Artio, Artemis, Veles, Mielikki, Otso, Ursula and many more are associated with Bears or appear in the form of one.
Though perhaps most notably is the figure known simply as The Yule Bear.
Little is known of this figure in particular, he is a bear who shows up at Yule is the bulk of his myth. Though the Wildmen and Bear-Men that populate the Wilder Mann processions across Europe show the sheer breadth of his presence. Even in America remnants of The Yule Bear and his Maiden Fair remain in adverts such as The Coca Cola Bear which was directly based on him and even the American Yuletide Christmas myth containing an element of this divine marriage. The Yule Bear remains beside Santa Claus while The Maiden is remembered via the Reindeer "Vixen". Such an old myth writ on cave walls and traditions as old as memory. Our women recall this myth and it is said that Hyperborean Women instinctively pursue and are attracted to the most "Bearish" of men.
Yet there is still one part of the Bear's story that yet remains clear as day. When The Wild Hunt rides out The Yule Bear runs with them corralling the Black Grimhounds of The Hunt; those spirits of the Glorious Dead who ride and hunt alongside them, The Yule Bear keeping the young pups in line, with the wisdom and strength worthy of a god as mighty as he.-TLK

I painted this for a dear friend of mine; it’s his birthday present. He is proud of of German heritage, as well as his love of the whole “barbarian” persona & attributes thereof, thus I combined the two to create the ultimate portrait.

Hunter's Moon
Have you heard of the Hunter's Moon?
The Hunter's Moon is not a Scheduled Moon, it's not even necessarily a Full Moon. The Hunter's Moon is a Hunter's Moon because it is so bright it lights up the night.
Thus when combined with Winter's Glittering Snow the Hunter's Moon crafts a day nocturne. In the Den of Winter tracking is easy in the snow while daylight leads to Snow Blindness, it is in this time the Moonlit Hunt becomes a treasured event.
The Hunter, the Woodsman, the Parent with mouths to feed, the Hermit, stomachs growling for their next meal all go out into the light of the Hunter's Moon. Whether by snowshoe or pick up truck, alone or in a party this Hunt is something special.
The antler of the Stag glitters in the night, hoofprints following like sunken memories and should they escape your keen eyes one can always follow the Blood Upon the Snow.
So the real question... Have you enjoyed the Moonlit Hunt?

Julbjorn stood vigilant atop the frozen cliffs guarding the lands of Blood and Holly from the hordes who would do them harm. Soon it would be the day, blood would color the snow. King Klaus would head out astride Glory Wolf in his bloody war paint to travel through Shadow and Flame. If I had to name my biggest issue with the "Proto-Indo-European" Hypothesis it is that those who push it behave as if it is ancient; when in fact it is a few hundred years old and ignores millennia of history and culture of each individual Race of our kind in favor of a poor reconstruction of a people that did not exist, for Gods that result from the merging of various pantheons stripped of all nuance and value, of racial traits beyond the shallowness of skin color beyond any deeper characteristics.
It plays at being deep, ancient, primal and is anything but. It is the destruction of actual heritage: Physical, Biological, Cultural and Spiritual and its most avid advocates don't even notice. Or perhaps they do and see the destruction of the Old for something new as worth it. If that is the case than how are they any different from those they oppose?
