Google has uploaded a 64-bit-only images of Android 13 QPR1 Beta 3.1 for *some* older Pixels.

The Pixel 7 became the first Android device to support only 64-bit apps. This improved security and system performance and freed up to 150 MB of RAM used by the system.

At the Android Dev Summit '22 the company announced (via Mishaal Rahman) that in addition to the 64-bit only images already available in Android Studio, it will also upload the same builds for some older Pixel models specifically for the convenience of developers.

And you can already download 64-bit only factory images of Android 13 QPR1 Beta 3.1 for Pixel 4a (5G), Pixel 5, Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro from Android Developers website.

Android 13 will introduce a predictive back gesture. This feature will let users preview the destination or other result of a back gesture before they fully complete it, allowing them to decide whether to continue or stay in the current view. For example…
Google showed how predictive back gesture will work inside apps in Android 14.

At Google I/O 2022, the company announced updates to Android's gesture navigation. n. Now when you swipe the gesture back, you will see a preview of the screen where you go. In Android 13, this feature is available in test mode as a toggle in the developer options and only in apps that support it. And at the moment, it only shows the preview of the home screen.

In Android 14, the predictive back gesture will be able to show the previous screen within the app. Thus, when navigating, you will always know if you are going back a step or if you are already on the last page before exiting the app.

🇬🇧 Google Search discover is testing new tiles with weather and stocks. These tiles are located at the very top of the list (as it was previously with the old weather tile). They can be customized by leaving only one of them, but it is not possible to completely…
Google is widely rolling out a new tile in Discover feed with information about sports, weather, and finance.

By default you can only see the weather, but if you subscribe to updates for a particular sports team or stock of a particular company, you will have the option to add Sports and Finance. The settings are called up by sliding the tile to the left and pressing the pencil button.

We first saw this tile a year ago, and it hasn't changed much since then. Except that the tile now has an outline, the + icon has been replaced with a pencil, and some string changes.

🇬🇧 Google is working to bring Material You to Chrome OS It's still in the prototype stage and Google could change everything, but 9to5Google has made a close approximation mockup based on the code description of what the windows could look like with the…
Here's what Chrome OS looks like with the Material You dynamic colors.

Redditor u/kentexcitebot by upgrading his Chrome OS device to a fresh Canary build was able to enable a new internal "Jelly" flag that dynamically changes the themes of various system interface components depending on the desktop wallpaper.

As you can see, the work on the feature is not finished yet, but it already looks nice. It was also previously reported that Google is experimenting with adding rounded corners to app windows.

Google Search app tests the UI with Material Design 3 components.

The first of the changes is a redesigned bottom navigation bar, where the current page is indicated by a pill that also has nice animations when switching.

The second change is a redesigned settings pages UI with larger headers and new MD3 toggles. Unfortunately, because of the way the app is designed, some pages look mixed (e.g., "hide explicit results"), because they are essentially an embedded web UI.

Also, this redesign does not apply to the assistant settings page.

This is a server-side change spotted in 13.44.10.29.

Thanks, Harun (@ToukoNoManji)!
