9to5Google has managed to enable apps and notifications streaming from your Pixel to Chrome OS, Windows and MacOS devices. On the latter two it works through web apps, while on Chrome OS it is implemented through deep integration with PhoneHub. They haven’t yet found a way to launch a specific app from the phone, nor have we seen any options to change the display size.

Mishaal Rahman discovered that a new NearbyManager API has been added to the system. The code change says that Google intends to make Fast Pair available through the Mainline module,and that device manufacturers will have the ability to support the initial pairing of Fast Pair devices through their own server to sync and serve certified Fast Pair devices’ metadata.

The company intends on making use of Topics and FLEDGE for relevant content. FLEDGE shows ads based on “custom audiences” defined by app developers and the previous interactions within their app, and all information is stored locally. Google says that Ad ID will be staying around for at least two years, and developers will be given a lot of notice before it’s phased out entirely.

According to a recent code change, chipsets launching with Android 13 must support the Identity Credential HAL. This is enforced through a new test in the Vendor Test Suite (VTS) (GMS requirement). But Google cannot mandate that devices upgrading to Android 13 support the IC HAL, which is why the requirement is limited to new chipsets launching with Android 13.

The Material team came up with the idea that in order to balance Material You and the colors in the app (for example, different colors of controls in the smart home app), developers can take advantage of changing the hues within the app itself to either the cooler or the warmer side.

When the window is fully expanded, six cards are offered and they all expand on hover: Weather, Trending, What to Watch, Stocks/markets, Local Events, COVID News. As such, this is very likely a test to determine whether a full rollout is warranted.
