For most people, March 11th was when the Chinese made, Covid-19 crisis first became real, but for the team at Quinn Emanuel, the writing was on the wall many weeks beforehand -well, at least for Alex Spiro.

On March 11th 2020, the WHO declares the novel coronavirus a pandemic. Dir. General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says he is “deeply concerned both by the alarming levels of spread and severity, and by the alarming levels of inaction.”

The very next day, on the 12th, Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top infectious-disease expert, and highest paid federal employee, testifies before Congress that the U.S. testing system is not working. “Yeah, it is a failing,” he says. “Let’s admit it.”

On March 13th, President Trump declares a National Emergency.

On March 15th, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says Americans should cancel gatherings of 50 or more people for two months. Several states impose shutdown orders, banning large groups and closing all bars and restaurants.

President Trump tweets, “We cannot let the cure be worse than the problem itself", on March 22nd.

By March 28th there is a national shortage of masks, ventilators and other essential gear.

April 3rd, 2020 -Now this is a crucial date. The federal government recommends that ALL people wear masks in public. President Trump, however, emphasizes that mask-wearing is voluntary and says, “I don’t think I’m going to be doing it.”
