Бійці 75-го полку рейнджерів Армії Сполучених Штатів з спеціальним варіантом HMMWV під назвою Ground Mobility Vehicle. Фото 2014 року. GMV - це ціла програма модернізації наявних у автопарку Командування Сил спеціальних операцій бронемашин підвищеної прохідності HMMWV.
Перші подібні машини з'явилися під час Війни у Перській затоці, тоді їх називали Desert Mobility Vehicle (DMV), або ж «Dumvee».
Суть такої модернізації полягає у максимальному зниженні ваги бронемашини й підвищенні її вогневої потужності шляхом від'єднання від корпусу бронеелементів, даху, наварювання спеціальної полегшеної рами замість корпусу й установці великої кількості точок кріплення озброєння, в тому числі станкових гранатометів та ПТРК. Пізніше модернізовані HMMWV отримали систему централізованої підкачки шин й новий двигун з турбонаддувом.
Завдяки зниженню ваги швидкість та прохідність збільшилася, крім того, з'явилася можливість перевозити машини на підвісах гелікоптерів UH-60 та CH-47 на значно більші відстані через економію палива.
У розпоряджені американських спецпризначенців перебувають наступні моделі:
GMV-S – Зелені берети.
GMV-R – 75-й полк рейнджерів
GMV-N – SEAL/DEVGRU
GMV-T / GMV-SD / GMV-ST – Командування спеціальних операцій ВПС (AFSOC)
GMV-M – Командування спеціальних операцій Корпусу морської піхоти (MARSOC)

Soldiers of the 75th Ranger Regiment of the United States Army with a special version of the HMMWV called the Ground Mobility Vehicle. Photo from 2014. The GMV is a whole program of modernization of the existing HMMWVs in the Special Operations Command fleet.
The first such vehicles appeared during the Gulf War, then they were called Desert Mobility Vehicle (DMV), or “Dumvee”.
The essence of this modernization is to minimize the weight of the armored vehicle and increase its firepower by disconnecting the armor elements and roof from the body, welding a special lightweight frame instead of the body, and installing a large number of weapons mounting points, including easel grenade launchers and ATGMs. Later, the modernized HMMWVs received a centralized tire inflation system and a new turbocharged engine.
Due to the weight reduction, the speed and cross-country ability increased, and it became possible to transport the vehicles on the suspensions of UH-60 and CH-47 helicopters over much longer distances due to fuel savings.
The following models are at the disposal of the US Special Forces:
