The Scorpion special unit was engaged in the protection of nuclear power plants, protection of nuclear material transportation, and countering nuclear terrorism. Scorpion units were located at every nuclear power facility in Ukraine, and today their functions are performed by the NGU's internal security units.

У цей день, 1 травня 2013 року, командир військової частини А0661 видав свій перший указ. З цього часу частина набула бойових спроможностей та почала виконувати спеціальні задачі. Цією військовою частиною є 140 окремий центр спеціальних операцій, якому сьогодні виконується 10 років.
