Chief Red Cloud was a Native American war leader who became an important part of history for his role in fiercely defending his peoples land against the U.S. government.

As leader of the Lakota Indians in the 1860's, a time when the United States was attempting to seize Indian territory, he is best known for his long standing opposition to a proposed road through Indian territory. The two year battle with the U.S. government where Chief Red Cloud fought to protect Indian land in Montana and Wyoming became known as Red Clouds War.

Titanic left Southampton, England, on April 10, 1912 at exactly noon. The ship was scheduled to make two stops, and then cross the big ocean to go to New York.

That evening, Titanic dropped anchor in France. From the shore, one person captured a very rare image of the Titanic at night just as she was leaving Cherbourg. What makes this image so rare is the fact that it is the ship with all her lights on, heading away from France, and on her way to Ireland.
