Telegram has 3 markdown parsers at the moment, and all three suck massive ass. One of them is so useless that you can't even input dots . without them being interpreted as reserved md characters. You have to escape practically every single character, and the result often\. looks\. like this\. The other one is much better at handling this, but you can't paste e.g kaomojis, because kaomojis usually contain backticks ` and telegram's parser is so bad it interprets a single backtick as a start of tag and will look for the end of tag, which breaks the whole thing. The same happens to AI bots which use versatile .md formatting.

To solve this they've added rich messages. They finally increased character and media limit, which is great. But these rich messages don't support native telegram images (lol), so you have to use URLs, but URLs can fail on _their_ side for arbitrary reasons that are not even explained to you, because on my side all images load perfectly fine and I have no idea what their problem was. And it discards the whole request because of a single URL among 49 other URLs.

Github had no problems with markdown whatsoever since at least 2012, btw.

Markdown itself is 22 years old, and CommonMark is 11 years old. Instead of adopting CommonMark they rolled their own implementation, now three of them, for reasons that remain unknown.
