I thought about writing «it was developed for three weeks, so there was plenty of time for many new critical bugs 😅» but I was hoping for the best — and I could not be more wrong! A critical bug, which results in Telegram Desktop crash, was found very soon and reported via Twitter (+ two more, not such bad).
So the only thing that could be done was to release a hotfix 0.9.6 version. Sorry for that! Not the first time and I'm afraid not the last :)

The all-new 0.9.7 dev version is available for you to download, it includes some new features and some important improvements.
The main feature of this release is the monospace markdown formatting: simply place your text in single ` marks for inline monospace code fragment or in tripple for a whole code block. Of course no text or emoji replaces in monospace text parts — and space collapsing no more:
This version was built upon the new Qt library version, 5.5.1, so we can run into some strange bugs or unexpected behaviour, but I hope everything will be great!

Sorry for the previous message! I've mischosen a conversation for a test message 😭
But I have an excuse: I was really frustrated and could not believe the information I was checking at that moment — the text replaces still work inside the monospace code blocks (where they definitely should not!) in case this is not the first such block in the message or if it goes after any web link.
This won't happen again! At least not today 😅 And this annoying bug will be fixed in the next 0.9.8 dev version.

And the 0.9.8 dev version is now available. It has one important feature: you can add a caption to any photo you're sending 😃 You aren't asked for the caption only if you choose many photos at once.
Also some fixes here, including:
— Sound distortions, which were heard in 0.9.7 dev on some PCs, should be gone.
— No more text replacements in monospace code blocks (like
— The tilde (~) symbol display in message input field fixed.
— Messages that you're sending to yourself now have clock icon and you know if it did get sent already or not yet.

If you update your Telegram Desktop to the 0.9.13 stable version (and all other official Telegram apps to the next version as well) you'll be able to appoint admins in any of your groups — the exact list of guys who can change the group title / photo and invite / remove group members.
Even more, if you host a really huge community that exceeds 200 members limit, you'll be able to upgrade your 200-members group to a supergroup, which has a 1000 members limit and some other benefits.
IMPORTANT NOTE! Only the last versions of Telegram applications can access this new supergroups, so perhaps you should wait a while, while the major part of your 200-members group upgrades their apps (or at least discuss this within the group itself).

Today's update of Telegram Desktop is all about emoji and stickers:
— all the existing emoji are now supported, you can see them in the emoji panel (almost 500 were added)
— on the stickers panel you have a settings button now (in the lower right corner) where you can reorder and manage your sticker packs — the order will be automatically synced between all your Telegram devices (after updating the apps there to the latest versions as well)
— you can press-and-hold on a sticker in the stickers panel to see the preview (how this sticker will look when you send it), you can move the mouse while pressing and see the near stickers previews as well

Today a new dev (means "in development" :) version 0.9.20 was released. It has a new crash reporting solution, each time you catch a crash in Telegram Desktop, it will first check for the updates (perhaps a fixed version is already out?) and if not, it will suggest you to send us a crash report.
Speaking of small improvements: you can choose a sticker to be sent by an emoji you've written in the message field, just like in mobile apps now :)
