Deer fact of the day: Deer communicate through sounds, body language and scent marking. Deer use a combination of grunts, snorts, bleats and mews to warn other deer of danger and to establish dominance. They also perform particular motions with their tails, ears, heads and hooves to communicate with each other and to ward off predators. Finally, deer communicate their location and mark territory through the secretion of chemicals through their hooves, urine and saliva.
