OTD in 1939: The Soviet Union invades Poland from the east, in accordance with the secret protocol of the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact.
The Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact was an agreement between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany, concerning the partition of Poland and eastern Europe.
When the Reds invade, the Poles are already in the 17th day of desperate defense against German forces. The Soviet attack comes as a total surprise and is considered to be the "final nail in the coffin" of the young Polish country.
After conquering Poland, both Nazi Germany and the USSR initiate the brutal occupation of the country, which involved genocide, mass executions and anti-Polish extermination actions.

In August, Russia carried out almost ten thousand FPV kamikaze or bomber strikes in Kherson oblast compared to approximately 700 strikes per month one year ago. Roughly 60,000 people live in the city of Kherson today compared to 330,000 before the war.
