@cym27s @sentdefender: Russia just abandoned Syria. Russia gave minimal help, and said they couldn’t help because they have other interests allowing the whole country collapse, now the ally doesn’t exist anymore because they left it to be taken over.

Putin also abandoned Muammar Gaddafi in 2011. As well as, abandoning Ukraine and invading the country, and invading Georgia which they had economical and political ties in by invading the country. They also abandoned Armenia in 2023, allowing Azerbaijan to take parts of the country where Russian Peacekeepers were stationed after Russia gave Armenia security guarantees.

The fact they let Assad leave Syria to the houses that he owns in Moscow, does not mean that they didn’t abandoned their ally, they took him into Russia as a figurehead while allowing the country to go into chaos and collapse. The ally isn’t one person, it’s whole country.

Russia put their own interests ahead of their allies in this situation. And if US allowed that in Ukraine or any NATO country that they have military bases in, allowed the whole country to be take over by Russia or another country then that would mean that they abandoned their allies.

The Latakia Naval Port was primarily used by the Syrian 🇸🇾 Navy. It is 20km from Russia’s main air base in Syria and has been used for logistical support to Russia’s Khmeimim Air Base

@BorgFella420: The port does not post a threat to them or the Middle East as the SAA has fully fallen, but the air base with Russian fighter jets does. If Russia is allowed to keep their bases then they will continue bombing Syria and escalate the situation in the region like they always do.
