RT @dburbach: Political scientists have studied this, and yes, by and large the public does not distinguish between "retired" and "active duty" in endorsements, and endorsements from retired brass causes the public to assume active duty officers are also partisan

RT @FRHoffmann1: Colby's assessment is spot on.
In particular Germany's failure to procure the Taurus KEPD-350 after the war started, and its lack of effort to quickly develop and acquire a more modern German/European alternative, borders on criminal negligence.
Deeply, deeply infuriating. https://twitter.com/ColbyBadhwar/status/1833193859595055148#m

Further to this, having retired officers serve as Defense Secretary/Defense Minister makes this problem even worse. Absolute disaster for Civ-Mil relations.

@smileyplankton @FRHoffmann1: I'm speaking about the existing production lines. The fact that a new missile won't be ready for another 4 years in a best case scenario proves my point. It's not serious.

RT @minna_alander: This is the problem in Europe: countries like France who see the long-term benefit of a European defence industrial base, don’t see the short-term urgency to procure kit asap for a possible attack (see countries bordering Russia).
