If one does go for something like SkyShield, there are many good arguments for why such initiatives should be considered now, not just moral but rooted in hard politics.
But, the US is unlikely to provide a backstop so be prepared for the Russians to challenge any moves.

This isn't some newfound destruction of the US defense industry, related to recent political events.
The Harpoon is outdated and there is no US domestic replacement, hence why the US Navy (also the Royal Navy and the Australians) is buying NSM too, and is by far the biggest customer.

The destruction of the US Defense industry continues as Denmark signs a deal with Norway to replace its US-made Harpoon missiles with Norwegian variants.
And the best part? Denmark sent ts US missiles to Ukraine.

The matter is far too serious for important aspects to be downplayed to make them easier to sell, both politically and to the public.

I just want people to be aware of the potential consequences, that the worst case scenarios must be a part of the planning, that it requires will to go all the way if necessary.

All options must be looked at anew now ,and one can debate and have disagreements on the risks, but:
